Those machines are a blast. There was usually a group of people waiting to play around it in addition to the seats being full (the working seats, anyway). The MGM Grand had one, too, until the modern and more digital versions started becoming popular. They break down all the time, and it took a specialized repair person to maintain and fix. Also one of the few places you could still use actual quarters in Las Vegas in a major casino.

Its value to the casino as a novelty item makes it worth more than 80,000 because people go there to play that and end up playing many other machines. It's a classic loss leader machine! The biggest problem with it, is that it takes some effort to maintain it.

I played this machine a couple months ago. Only 3 or 4 of the spots were working and there was an attendant basically hanging around nearby because coins would frequently get stuck. But I know a lot of people stop by The D simply to see this machine so it still has some value!

I used to work for Sigma. He mentioned Mr. Katsuki Manabi. He and his wife were very good people ti work for. I put several of these out on a 70/30 participation split. Sigma got 30% and the casino 70%. It was beyond popular for the first two years.

The aesthetics are beautiful. But it really doesn't make sense to have that in a casino. It takes far too much real estate to be profitable. At $0.25, and how long it takes for the horses to go round, he is most likely losing money by having this machine. It would be a cool piece for a homeowner, but most people don't have the real estate. And there also seems like it will require a lot of maintenance. With there being so few left, there's probably nobody out there who specializes in fixing these machines.

ok let me get something straight, pawn shops are a way of borrowing money so a "loan", you give your asset in exchange for a loan that you have to repay with high rates of interest (so technically its better to get a loan from a bank). and if you fail to pay back the loan (interest included), pawn shops can sell your asset to retrieve the money, so whats the point if your getting your self in such a long and complicated situation where banks exist

You use the bank if you can get a loan ... not everyone can qualify for one. Pawn shops are also much quicker so if speed is important they can be preferred. Payday or Title loan companies operate on similar principals.

If you don't make your car or house payment the bank is going to come take them. The difference is the pawn shop holds on to your item while a bank lets you drive it/live in it while you are paying for it even though legally they own it. Also, most big banks are not going to bother with such small loans.

As long as every seat was taken, this game was an ATM. It has to pay every race. So I used to feed quarters as fast as humanly possible. Usually had at least 100 in there at a time. Played about 30-40 per race. Play every combination. Play the favorites to cover losses on the longshots. Most other players played conservatively. Game would calculate that it was better to pay the long shot from time to time. I'd buy 2 rolls of quarters. I never walked away with less than 5 buckets of quarters. Greatest casino game ever if you did your math real fast!!!

There are a lot of racing derby arcade and casino games, back in the day they were very popular. Some are more common than others though and are hence worth more or less money. Nowadays people want flashing lights and sirens and these games don't bring in the money like they did in yesteryear.

.... no it’s not. The value is all in what property owns it. If they can get hundreds people every day into their casino just to see it (and subsequently spend lots of money in said casino), then it’s worth a lot. As a stand alone piece in someone’s man cave, it’s worth $1000, max.
