This week we do it a little different than usual. I take 200 grams of scrap gold from my pawn shop and turn them into gold bars. I turn the scrap gold into bars by using the ToAuto 3KG melting furnace. I show exactly how to use this furnace from the unboxing to actually making the gold bars.

Just a safety tip: torch the jewelry before you smelt it, less flame ups and smoke that way. Don't tap the graphite rod against the sides or the bottom of the crucible, that stuff is super brittle and will snap, you don't want the pieces of the rod sticking out the bar. Great Video !!!

I’ve been using the same graphite rod to stir, never actually broken andhting significant off….the tip very slowly melts/chips away….but if it were to happen, just remelt

I’ve been melting everything from aluminum to gold for a little over a year now and I tell you that one of most important lessons I learned was that you can’t hesitate when you pour. You have to pour in one quick consistent pour. Overall not too bad, you get better the more you do, and yes it does get addictive 😂. I’ve been learning how to refine gold and that’s my next thing to try…

Awesome video. I'm glad to see that you pre-heated your mold. I agree with the other comments about the safety recommendations. But if you're going to do this more often, I would suggest you get a fire brick to pour on. Those bricks you're using can contain moisture, and if you spill some of your metal while you're pouring, it can cause your brick to spawl. It's not fun to get hit with hot metal and concrete.

Hi enjoyed your video , if I can give a little advice as a retired jeweler of 35 yrs , heat the mold that’s why the bottom had creators(cold mold) , pre torch the gold , the graphite crucible should have been seasoned first to avoid the heavy smoke or cracking , pour in one spot fairly fast the last drips are slag the gold was already out as it is extremely heavy , soak in diluted nitric acid to remove fire scale ,also most importantly 13.5 gold can legally be marked 14k there is a variance unless its marked 14 kp for plumb gold , there should be zero gold loss it is not possible to incinerate it , zinc on the other hand can evaporate and is extremely toxic and lastly on small amounts it doesn’t matter but the silver , platinum group metals your are giving away with every melt can be significant, he should of paid you for 14 k at a minimum I’m sure his refinery is paying him for all of it especially if there was any white gold which was mixed with nickel but now is likely alloyed with palladium Im sure people will disagree but just this old man’s 2 cents . Thanks for the video. And best of luck

You made the comment about the handle being on the wrong side and it does seem like it would make more sense for it to be on the other side. BUT, I think it is on the wrong side for safety reasons. They do not want you to do to many things at once while playing with that kind of heat. Great show, thanks for it.

However, I’ve also gotten into coin, silver, and gold collecting over the past few months and have always been intrigued with melting some of the stuff I have to make bars. Your willingness to try, learn, adapt and try again is awesome. While watching, I almost bought that furnace on Amazon until I got to the end and heard you say you bought it on eBay for a better price. I’m gonna go that route now. Very impressive for you first time melting and pouring gold, one thing to also be aware of is the purity of the graphite crucible and mold and even the stir graphite rod. I worked for in the high purity casting industry and we purchased high purity graphite only. Typically the graphite supplier will supply a spec sheet with all the elemental levels of each element.
