When I was a 18 y/o dumb kid I bought a pair of high end large 3 way 15" bass reflex Altec stereo speakers (still factory sealed in original cartons! and he had multiples!) he showed me two out of carton beautiful 'sample speakers' of course. Smooth, fast talker, had a story about taking the merchandise as collateral when someone couldn't pay him, was dealing out of the back of an newer anonymous/nondescript white Ford econoline van. Also bought a 'GOLD and diamond chip' (marked 14K) pendant for my girl! All ended up being fake crap, I was young and dumb and blew essentially all of a weeks pay! Yup, a too good to be true super deal! We live and we learn..... or we don't.
