God bless you PAWS and Bob Barker for rescuing Maggie. Prayers for Lucy in Edmonton still alone after 43 years in captivity since she was only two years old. The City of Edmonton needs to let her go to a sanctuary where she can also live in the company of other elephants and behave like an elephant for the first time in her life.

THANK YOU PAWS for all you do. NO elephant should EVER be kept alone or in a zoo. I can't understand the thinking of Anchorage zoo keeping her for 25 years, ignoring her needs when her distress and pain was so obvious. I'm happy she is now free and in company of her kind. People are beginning to realise the complex needs of these beautiful creatures, but we have some way to go still, after centuries of abuse.

@HenryDavidT I remember seeing Maggie at the Anchorage Zoo, and it was a sad sight, she almost had no will to live anymore. My mother said "My God, she's in jail", and I'm sure that's exactly what she felt like. One day she went down and it took alot of effort just to get her standing again. I am so glad that she has a new life with elephant friends to live it with. She is now free from her prison, and now she can bask every new day in her freedom. PRAISE GOD, alot of us prayed for her.

We can all thank Bob Barker for the rescue of Maggie. Just look at her now, she has friends, freedom, peace, and the ability to roam and explore when and if she chooses. PAWS provides paradise to meet all the needs of the elephants. What's missing at PAWS is the rest of the Canadian elephants in captivity. FREE Lucy FREE Limba.

I am SO VERY happy that Maggie is safe and sound and out of Alaska.... I saw her at the Zoo in Anchorage, Alaska just once. We never go to the Zoo.... But we decided to take the kids just once... When I saw Maggie... I cried... Hard... I was SO heartbroken for her... That poor, sweet girl just stood there in her "barn", rocking her head from side to side and hitting herself repeatedly against the giant metal bars... That's what caused the injuries on the sides of her head... So, SO VERY happy she is out of here and isn't alone anymore! She never should have been brought up here in the first place!!! :(

Gosh, she was in very bad condition when she arrived, wasn't she? She was very thin, you can see all her back bone and her body is sunken in, in places. I'm glad she wasn't too old when she was rescued so that she can have a long life in the company of others. It always amazes me how elephants are so eager and welcoming when someone new arrives to join them. They always seem joyful to meet new elephants ❤❤❤

You mean my tax dollars helped pay for this BS when we still have millions of our citizens living out of their cars? More and more wasteful spending. People are starving and need a bath and we are transporting elephants via private plane ? That's about right , total stupidity of my government.

I've seen Maggie at the Ak zoo many times. She was losing her will to live, she went down one time, couldn't get her back up and they called the fire department. Let her go already, let her be free, let her have hope and others to love. The zoo was stubborn and didn't want to let her go. I don't support the Alaska Zoo because they are keeping animals against their will.

Comments being made regarding the Toronto elephants being lucky to be at PAWS bothers me, it is not luck but quality of life. What luck so to speak does Lucy or Limba have. They need to be rescued as well how is luck going to do it when the so called caregivers of these animals refuse to cooperate with giving them a life not an existence as they currently have. Fellow Canadians need to speak up and out about the gruelling sentences these animals have been subjected to for years, and release them as soon as possible to the sanctuary PAWS so as they can at least experience what living as an elephant should be like. EDMONTON zoo did you here me.
@MsManeldias10 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you 'ruthdodds'. That is the same question I ask and also wonders why on earth that poor Lucy being held so tightly and have imprisoned her for the last 36 years in an bone chilling freezing cold place such as Edmonton Valley zoo. Almost over 6 months continuesly the winters last. That climate is totally unacceptable for an Asian Elephant such as Lucy to live in. There were so many expertise have come forward to explain this nightmaric situation which Lucy lives in saying, that most inhospitable climates imaginable for an elephant to stay such a small habitat and all alone. But the Edmonton valley zoo morons, who are so greedy for money & the profit, simply do not listen to any of those expertise complains. The veteranarian of the valley zoo is one of the lowest knowledgable man on the planet. When asked the questions he said to the interviewer, "that Lucy likes the humans over other Elephants and she likes to stay in the zoo, and she has bonded with the zoo keepers well". I wonder when this Lucy has spoken to him saying that She really loves to stay behind all by her self and all alone without going to a sanctuary? First of all I wonder how on earth such a brainless man has become the Edmonton valley zoo veteranarian.? That vet. is totally dillusional and he is hanging onto this innocent animal to get his pay check at the end of every month and of course at the expense of Lucy. Lucy has become a another innocent victim to these Greedy, evil & the ignorant subhumans in the Edmonton Valley zoo. I hope one day all those people who do not care about this beutiful Lucy's life will pay a very high a price with their own lives. Because I belive what goes around comes around. This Lucy's life is so empty, so lonely, so miserable and showered with pains and confinement beyond words. Extreamely sad...

Please consider donating to PAWS for these lost souls. I have put a bequest in my will that a nice donation be made, its not alot but would make me very happy that someone will think about me for a minute after I'm gone from this terrible / lovely world. Please consider this for Lucy and Maggie and the others. Why has Seventy One not been given a nice name, its terrible to not be known as other than a number.

my name is LiZa and I was very active and instrumental in getting Maggie away from the dreaded Sammy Sewel and her clan at the AK Zoo. Poor Mags had fallen twice and required the assistance of the fire dept. to get her back up on her failing feet. It was horrible. I am in a place now where I can come visit her again... how do I go about this? i had an invitation way back when.. during the airlift... (I will NEVER forget her trumpeting just before she left the tarmac). I really would LOVE to see her
