Today I Rescued a Toy Poodle from a puppy mill in Hudson, Florida. Tomorrow I bring him to the groom. He is going to look like a million dollars and liven his best life. He is 5 years old and has a old lamb cut like this dog. I'll be getting his look refreshed. Then I'm taking him to the beach and everywhere with me.I love him so much.

During lockdown a lot of poodle owners are suddenly having to DIY clip their dogs for the very first time. Whilst this video makes it all look so simple, a beginner needs talking through the whole process, without background music. Not saying this video is poor, it isn't and I admire your skills. I have watched it several times, along with others. Now to tackle my Standard Poodle. She usually goes to her groomer every six weeks and it is now nine weeks since her last visit. I have bought a Wahl clipper, similar to the one I have been doing my own hair with for 30 years, but obviously it has different blades. I'll be taking enough off to be able to bath her before finishing the trim. Standing her in the bath, with my wife standing behind me holding a beach towel up for when she starts shaking herself dry. Should be fun....fingers crossed.

I just found this and I cut my mini like this and have found a few good tips here with your groom here! I do keep his feet full and the pads in the summer to protect his pad from hot sidewalks. Don’t get me wrong I don’t walk him during the day when it’s this hot but the sidewalks are burning hot most of the day. Short of carrying him to the car or around back to the golf course we live on which runs along my neighborhood where he gets walked. His muzzle for me is the hardest to trim!

This is why I groom my own mini. I walked in on a groom once and my mini was crying because the groomer was being so rough with his sensitive paws and leg that is sensitive. Then I found a groomer who did a great groom I thought until I saw his eye that has been to the Emergancy Vet had fur stuck across the same eye. I may not be perfect but my mini is happier with mom grooming him!

Great video! I have a miniature parti poodle that I got when he was three years old at a rescue and now he's ten. I always get him groomed at the same place but with the pandemic the groomer was closed for awhile and now it's two months before they can get us in. Every other groomer seems to be booked up too! So I want to try to groom him myself. Watching this video helps. I hope I don't make him look terrible. 😕

#1 comb attachment leaves a 3mm length coat #2 - 6mm #3 - 9mm, 4-13mm etc and you only want to skim over the legs with the #1 comb otherwise you’ll end up with very short, spindly looking legs. I hope this helps 😊
