This is a great theory video talking about the Jacket from Payday 2. Something that supports your theory are two things that occur in Payday 2. 1. In the safe house Jacket can tell a heister named Houston an interesting line about Identify Theft. For those who don’t know, Houston “stole” the identity of Hoxton by wearing his Mask and taking his name when Payday 2 originally started because they couldn’t get Hoxton’s original voice actor on board when the game began. After fans wanted him back, they brought back the original Hoxton and made the two seperate characters. Jacket’s tells Houston in the safehouse: "Identity theft is a means often employed to gain financial advantage or undo access to someone else's assets or prestige. In some rare cases of ongoing identity theft, it may lead to the thief actually losing touch with their own identity, effectively a kind of schizophrenic insanity." Something surprisingly in detail that the Payday 2 Jacket knows about well, almost like he’s going through it maybe. And lastly the Prison Nightmare Heist, a Halloween heist that included some “Nightmare Voices” that can occur randomly for the Payday Heisters throughout the heist. Jacket’s nightmare lines say: “Your name is not Jacket”. Which leads me to believe that this truly isn’t our Jacket as you say, and these were some of the evidence probably hinting at this Jacket being a copy cat as the video theorizes.

-Biker didn't kill them, they show up in 1991 and talk to Richter. -The Floppy Disc that Jake took actually never happened, Jake died in the bathhouse that Jacket later raided. -There was a riot in 1991, when Jacket was in prison, where Richter escaped, but Jacket didn't even participate in the fighting. He had no motivation to, he didn't care enough to escape.

Honestly Jacket was the safest out of the characters during the nuclear attack. In prison, surrounded by concrete, that is the best anti-nuclear kind of bunker you could have. As far as radiation poisoning, I’m not sure.

yeah one of the most dangerous person at that time killed the whole russian mafia killed himself ofc they got him in a special cell that happened before in history sure and like you said in the games scene there is literally no windows and walls are so solid which can really be protective and don't forget the for mystery and enigma being used for him like in the game HM you can theorize if what event happen and what not what is like what and all but if they are gonna bring the character in an another game ofc they can keep that mystery I think he survived the nuke and this effected his mental problems more and even in the nightmare heists he was having issues with himself like "you are not jacket" and all we never learn his name and all (which most people think its richard) he gave up on that identity and had to become it again and all this may get him in a problematic phase for his mental state

Nah the safest would have been Biker. In a secret cut scene you find out he's been living in the desert away from civilization because he's afraid 50 Blessings will come back to take revenge on him. That means there's a very high chance the area he was living in didn't get nuked at all.

Jacket was well made in this game but his personality isn't all that accurate. Every guest character in PayDay has this problem except ScarFace because he isn't the real Tony Montana. I'm pretty sure everything in PayDay 2 is actually hypothetical like BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. So, they are in fact the real characters but not the same ones you know except for Tony, he's still dead.

I believe that, yes, is IT Jacket, but it's a different timeline. One were the events of the game happened in more recent times, and maybe some events didn't happen. The next expansion for Payday 2 is in San Francisco, so maybe the Russians didn't dropped a Nuke there and maybe the US won the war. Or maybe the War never happened? Idk. Maybe there's a reference to it when the DLC releases.

It’s also worth to mention that there’s also a Heist based off Hotline Miami in Payday 2 which is contracten by the dentist who at the end is revealed to have super natural powers and objects that can cause earthquakes, travel in time and space and make people immortal so perhaps the Dentist somehow altered the events off Hotline Miami by speaking as Richard to Jacket and made it prevent 50 Blessings from destroying the world (and he can also read minds it seems and knows pretty much everything). The Dentist also says in Hell’s Island this quote: “When you’ve around for a while you learn to let things go!” Could this hint at the fact that he has seen things in the past and just decided to let them play out no matter what or change them for his benefit? Furthermore on this that two contractors related to him are A Republican Politician names the Elephant and a Ukrainian Crime Boss named Vlad Kozak who it’s heavily hinted that he may have had connections with the Russian mob of Miami (but thats complicated), it’s also confirmed that all of these three people seem to be Immortal and with their powers they probably had a hand as well in preventing nuclear war.

So, my theory is that the other Kings were people like Churchill, King George or even Stalin at one point (would fit for Vlad).

Found a problem with your theory: Jacket was Inside a prison cell, from the looks of it SHU (special housing unit IE Solitary), a Concrete Brick of a room, typically In the innermost layer of a US Federal institutions, meaning Multiple several foot thick concrete walls between Him and the outside world. Yes, the cutscene shows the blast wash over him, but from the Top down art style it appears to be a gray square with no ceiling, which is NOT what dangerous sociopathic inmates are kept in. Furthermore, the bomb would not have been detonated On Top of the prison, it would be at the epicenter of the metropolitan area. Prisons are, on average, built on the Outer areas and separate regions (due to the "Not in My backyard" opinions of correctional facilities). Unless it was a Massive yield weapon detonated within a Mile of his location, being in Seg at the time of detonation would have probably saved his life, and the resulting EMP could have disabled the electromagnetic locks, allowing his escape.

Fun fact: There is a Hotline Miami map in Payday 2 where you kill a Russian Mafia, led by the Commissar (who is obviously the Father version of Payday 2). Like the Russian Mafia in Hotline Miami, they have tie ins with the government, which is why the Payday gang had to kill the Commissar, because if the Commissar is dead, they can let one of their arrested allies, Hoxton, onto a trial, which is a setup for a breakout.

I know this video is 2 years old, but my theory is as stated. This is the Payday Universe's version of Jacket. He was born later, and instead of being in a war between America and Russia (which never happened in the payday universe), he served in the Iraq war before the events of Payday. He uses a tape recorder either by Bain's suggestion or during the war one of his eventual war buddies gave it to him in order to give him a voice, being mute and all. The reason I say it's this universe's version of Jacket is because many of the things that happens in Hotline Miami could have happened still, just later and with varying events. The game in Payday's universe could be based on Jacket's vigilantism against the Russian mob, just flowered up so that the public wouldn't have to worry about Jacket actually being real, and if he was, killed in a nuke blast and or too old to keep operating. He could very well be a fanboy, but it's not out of the question to think the game in Payday's universe is based on him instead of the other way around. And the two versions of the character are in their own ways canon, or inherently "Jacket."

I have a personal theory that the Payday 2 Hotline Miami crossover is a direct sequel to Hotline Miami 1. I've actually tried to change the way I speak. Nowadays, I try to talk slower with a much more relaxed tone whereas in the past, I was speaking a lot faster with an excitable tone. In prison nightmare, you can get 2 (maybe 3 I can’t remember) lore voice lines echo in your head, one of them is ‘Battery power is low, please replace batteries’ which is Jacket’s greatest fear, having to speak again. And the second is ‘Your name is not Jacket’ which means that he isn’t Jacket and supports the theory that he was inspired by the Jacket in Hotline Miami 2. Whenever Jacket puts his mask on, he says many strange things like ‘We hope you enjoy the show’ and ‘The following presentation is for mature audiences only’ and other 4th wall breaking things. This is probably because he was inspired by a video game, he acts like (or knows) he’s in a video game

I think that the events in hotline Miami did take place in the payday universe. And most likely the Jacket is just a fan. I have a theory about how this fake jacket got into the gang: it was a man who was inspired by the adventures of the Jacket in Miami and when he realized that he died from the atomic bomb, he wanted to imitate him, put on a mask and went to kill the mafia so that everyone would think that the jacket survived after the atomic explosion. I know I sound crazy but listen, "The Secret" beneath the White House is actually a universe correction event, which corrected the Nuking of Miami, San Francisco, and most of the events of Hotline Miami 1 & 2. Jacket was pulled from the Hotline Miami Prison by the payday gang during The Secret. It also happens that The Secret was also a correction of the events of the Payday Gang, completely restarting both timelines and all subsequent franchise tie-ins. I like to think that Payday 2 is an alt version of Hotline Miami where Jacket is able to fend off the cops after killing the mob boss and only joined the Payday Crew for protection from 50 blessings. Soon 50 blessings gets caught and snuffed out somehow, which leads to a Watergate level sandal that causes books, movies, and Videogames to be made about the event thus explaining the arcade machine. Jacket at this point only continues to work for them because it gives him a purpose in life, truly accepting the persona that was forced upon him.

I think the Payday Jacket ruthlessly played the game and the questions which are secretly asked to the player in Hotline Miami 1 (and 2) mentally struck the Payday Jacket and made him question his identity and who he wants to be - like a schizophrenic disorder - so he dawned/created clothes exactly like Jacket and created his own mask, similar to Richard but not the same. He went on a killing spree in Miami, killing many members of some sort of Russian mob (notice that the info description for Jacket doesn't specify what Russian Mob and who lead it) for a few months until the Payday gang needed his help to kill the Commissioner.

So hear me out, Jacket in Payday 2 is Jacket. Hotline Miami just happened very differently, 50 Blessings were probably taken out by another crime syndicate during or right after Jacket's spree. It's the Payday universe which includes the weird underground hitman stuff from John Wick. Maybe this time around The Continental was there to keep an eye on the events happening down in Miami and prevented it from boiling over. This mixed with the Russo American War never happening leads to Jacket being in 50's in the 2010's robbing banks for some reason.

My favorite theory: The Hotline Miami game in the Payday universe is actually a game where it's loosely based on real-life events, focusing on the life of Jacket, up until the nuke going off ending. Pretty similar to how the in-universe film Midnight Animal played out in HM2, where it's based on the first game. In short, Jacket in Payday 2 is very real. Also, he just really likes how there is a game inspired by him, so that's why he decided to have the arcade game in his room.

There's also the side bar in crime net, where there's a button to have Bain talk about each crew member. You might want to check those out, but if I recall they're recycled mostly for jacket from his written stuff. Consider the Hotline Miami heist too, I recall that trailer was the first showing of Jacket. Also, Biker has his helmet available in game (there's an armour skin that puts a skull on your back too but it's unrelated) so it's possible he survived. You already know I think Jacket survived the nuke by intention, and had a lot more to do with 50b than it seemed.

Well,I honestly think there are more universes.For example:King of Fighters and Fatal Fury, which was supposed to be a prequel to King of Fighters,have different timelines.In FF,a character named Geese Howard dies (forgot which game he died) but at KoF,that character is alive and well because the part where Geese Howard's death never happened.I think the nuke never happened and he never got arrested OR escaped it quickly.Also I think i found someone that contradics the theory: If the "fanboy" Jacket was really a fanboy,how can he shoot many guns that are in Payday?Did he take a literal training for it just to pretend to be someone?

My theory is that 50 blessings did manage to start sending out the phone calls, but jacket was among the first few called, unlike the actual events of HM, where he appears to been have recruited after many people. This leads to him being able to kill lots of mobsters and the police are unable to trace any patterns yet. Before biker can truly get his investigation underway however, 50 blessings is taken out by the Dentist and his "allies" due to their plans interfering with the Dentists. The fact that the war is never brought up can be chalked up to the sociopathy and general insanity of the PAYDAY universes residents.

My own theory is quite similar to Your final one. A multiverse, making all outcomes canon for someone. Perhaps in the Payday Universe the history was very similar to ours, so no nukes were dropped on American cities, but the events from the original Hotline:Miami could've played out similarly, with Jacket being a veteran of any of the deployments during the cold war.... If the 50Blessings were exposed, it would have a very strong impact on the world, so I do not think it is the case, I would guess the exact opposite - they are still hiding their true motives and didn't make any 'significant' move yet..... But may be observing everything. Hell, maybe Dentist has ties to them, I don't see why not

in the mask customization, you can find masks from the fans, (Mark, Tony, Cory, and Alex.) who weren't in the first game. the DLC also came out some where in september of 2014, and Hotline Miami 2 came out in March of 2015, so you can piece together that the pd2 devs got to see the hm2 script and saw the Nuke ending and thought "we got to figure out some way to say this Jacket is not *the* Jacket."

I believe jacket being in Payday 2 is one of those cases of the saying "never meet your heroes". From this video alone it's clear there's different acts enacted in HM and HM2, like the biker killing jacket in HM2 opposed to jacket killing biker in HM. It's fun to speculate but speculating in seeking of how jacket survived the nuke is more trouble than it's worth. It's best this way, to keep jacket a character shrouded in mystery, it's practically his whole personality if you don't try hard enough to understand HM

great theory, I was under the impression that while history carried on as normal in the Payday reality as opposed to the Hotline Miami timeline, instead of the Hawaii conflict the ghost wolves still served in a different more modern conflict like vietnam allowing for the 50 blessings to exist and carry out their activities during the 80s leading to 'jacket' earning his reputation which is shown in the first teaser for the Hotline Miami pack/heist for payday with the russian mobster panicking after jacket appeared in the doorway sort of being the bogeyman figure of Miami's criminals

from what i understand payday2 jacket and hotline miami jacket are the same person but different events to blend the universes (which is common practice) so certain events won't have happened to fit into the main universe so since it i jacket inserted into payday2 so his background is altered to fit in...it is seen with the dc/marvel crossover comics
