''Only 'circulating legal tender coins' can be spent and traded with banks or a business. Banks, building societies and shops are NOT obliged to accept commemorative coins - and never have been - as they are not circulating legal tender.'' A £20 coin is not in circulation, so they had every right to not accept it, i understand being frustrated at the first dingbat who ran away when you approached, but, there was no need to have a passive-aggressive, almost ''i know better'' attitude. If the coin is not in circulation, it is acceptable to refuse it, and idk where you got this magical idea that ''if you refuse to accept a coin that is not in circulation it wipes the debt'' - that's the equivalent of using 2 old, out of circulation £20 notes and saying ''but they're both worth £20.'' - not in circulation. Be nicer to retail workers. I wouldn't have just refused you, after your ''know it all'' act, i'd have kicked you out, and if you'd refused, security would have physically removed you. 29:52 ''head office have just said it is legal tender'' - yes, because it's a £20 mint, minted out of £20 worth of material. But it's NOT in circulation. (again, see my two old £20 note example), and being in circulation trumps ''legal tender''. Again, two old £20 notes are legal tender, but they're not in circulation. And to further repeat myself, be nicer to retail workers.

@xEvilNeverDiesx2 жыл бұрын
I used to work in a very busy petrol station, and I admit it is annoying when you have to close down due to some technical issue and people keep coming in even tho there are cones blocking the entrance and a sign saying temporarily closed, but as a customer service person you should always have time for a customer closed or not. I mean there was a lad who came in everyday and he couldn't read or right, so he got me to fill in his bday cards to his family and whoever and other things he needed to right down, so what if someone like that couldn't read the sign and was just stood there not knowing what was going on?

I live in Michigan, USA. I worked 19 years at petrol/convenience stire, mostly midnight shift till 7 am. One night I got to work, power was off. Assistant manager was working, let me in. I stayed off till about 5-6 am. Had to just sit there, as no emergency lighting. Doors were kept locked for my safety. It was winter time, so very cold with no heat on. Though manager said I could pull my auto up close to front doors to go warm up when needed. But I didnt. I was afraid of dozing off. Couldn't lick doors, as couldn't get back in. So just kept my winter coat on, with a fleece shell wrapped around legs. I had people that were regular customers stop in to make sure I was ok, I had a flashlight. Even local police checked on me couple of times.

@jbcentral154511 ай бұрын
I’m sorry but I don’t agree with your attitude regarding the lady at the petrol station. One, the forecourt was clearly closed and the door to the kiosk locked. And two, you could’ve been anyone. When a shop is closed, it’s closed and most retailers will have a policy that says that the door should be locked for the colleagues protection. You could’ve been anyone, with ill intent. How were they supposed to know? The minute they unlock the door to talk to you, you could easily barge through the door into the kiosk and they wouldn’t be able to get you out again.
@jbcentral154511 ай бұрын
What you have to understand is, retailers have strict policies around security and also health and safety. If they unlocked the door for a customer when it’s meant to be locked, and the retailers rules says that it has to be locked, and they then rob the place or shoplift… that’s the member of staffs job gone. It’s not fair for customers to place the onus on staff. They’re only doing their job. She wasn’t rude at all, she was more than nice to you. People who work in retail are paid low; and put up with a lot of bad customers who have no respect, are very rude and belittling and the list goes on. Give them a break. They’re trying their best. I agree in that she should’ve told you, and using the tannoy would’ve been a good way to do it. But you can’t expect her to have unlocked the door for you. That negates the whole point of them being closed.

Good work! She's paralysed by her inability to act on her own initiative. She should accept the coin and give you a receipt. What are the legal tender amounts acceptable for the United Kingdom coins? Legal tender has a very narrow and technical meaning in the settlement of debts. It means that a debtor cannot successfully be sued for non-payment if he pays into court in legal tender. It does not mean that any ordinary transaction has to take place in legal tender or only within the amount denominated by the legislation. Both parties to a transaction are free to agree to accept any form of payment whether legal tender or otherwise according to their wishes. In order to comply with the very strict rules governing an actual legal tender transaction it is necessary, for example, to offer the exact amount due because no change can be demanded. Coins are legal tender throughout the United Kingdom for the following amount: £100 - for any amount £50 - for any amount £20 - for any amount £5 (Crown) - for any amount £2 - for any amount £1 - for any amount 50p - for any amount not exceeding £10 25p (Crown) - for any amount not exceeding £10 20p - for any amount not exceeding £10 10p - for any amount not exceeding £5 5p - for any amount not exceeding £5 2p - for any amount not exceeding 20p 1p - for any amount not exceeding 20p When did Tesco become a Court ? www.royalmint.com/help/trm-faqs/legal-tender-amounts/

You actually don't technically have a right to film on private property if the owner of that property states you don't. It's an assumed right, but it can be revoked by the owner of a private area. Also, it the right to film in public almost always includes the right to film a private area that is in view of the public area - i.e. if you're told not to film someone's house by the owner, you could technically still record through their window from the street.

I.e when I went to the co-op a few days ago and they had issues with the payment method they printed off a type of receipt, so once I got back from the cash machine they could just scan it back in the till and have the same transaction. Likely similar here so they can link the date/time the fuel was dispensed.
