No European country (or the EU as a whole) is prepared to do whatever it takes to stop the boats as it would obviously result in a great loss of life, at least initially. It seems obvious that once the modern day pirates realised they had virtually no chance of landing their boats in Europe and an extremely high chance of dying the boats would very quickly stop. However, European governments, or indeed most of its citizens, don’t have the stomach for it. As a result Europe will change out of all recognition over the next 100 years.

This country needs to look and learn from other countries who are managing immigration far more effectively. Denmark and Austria have a system in place whereby any immigrant who arrives must speak the language before applying for jobs, they then most prove that they have paid tax to their host country for 7 years before being able to access benifits. The UAE and other gulf states rarely give immigrants citizenship. Once their working life is over, out the door they go. The benifit system in this country is Far too generous. If women have Children , they are immediately given a council house. I lived in Ecuador in Latin America for a year and If women had children and couldn't support them or put a roof over their heads, then tough Sh*t, maybe they should have thought about that before having children. Many council estates in London are full of Muslims or Africans who have large families and the UK Government is legally bound to house them, when they have paid nothing into the system and in the case of some Muslims, they actively hate the country. pure Madness,

I just watched a fascinating interview with David Frost interviewing Sir Oswald Moseley. The matters brought up including a very vocal and well prepared audience whose aim was to interrupt and undermine a fascinating conversation was a tactic still used today, just swap ‘Jewish’ for ‘migrants’. Indeed it could easily have been Huw Edwards or Philip Schofield interviewing Nigel Farage. The playbook is identical From the economy of the 1930’s to the arguments about free speech it might as easily have been recorded yesterday Simon should do a piece about it. I hadn’t known Moseley had been a government minister although I knew he had been a war hero Even the discussion about multiculturalism is very prescient to today. My take away was the establishment have been undermining anyone who dared challenge the 2 party election machine. Something Moseley mentions, even setting up his British Union of Fascists to counteract the 2 party system and paying a heavy price Undoubtedly a very intelligent, interesting man. Anyone reading this should watch the interview. It is absolutely bang on target and totally relevant to today
