after watching ur video it gave me the knowledge to fix that little gear box. it isn't a complicated device. all i had to do was pull some of the gear apart and rinse it off and then push the gears close to each other again and then rotate it to make sure all the gear teeth arent missing. thnks for the video.

You sir are doing the Lord’s work. I did have to replace the whole valve, but the link you provided to Amazon meant that I still only spent less than $50. Popped that new valve on there and clean pool now.

Great video. I have one problem I can’t get the collar to unscrew it’s jammed in there. Any suggestions on how to pry it loose without hurting the housing?
@ClearlySeen2 жыл бұрын
It’s not super easy at all if you have a small hacksaw you can use that to cut it and then just pop it off with a flat head screwdriver.
@marks4711 ай бұрын
is there anything you recommend like a silicone grease or anything like that to put in the threads of the large clamping "ring" that keeps it from locking up?
@ClearlySeen11 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use Greece to help it come off but typically if you need to remove it the easiest way I have found is to use a heat gun on the band after a short time less than a minute you should be able to cut it to remove it that’s if you’re going to replace of the shell or the band

Sir, In a good working backup valve , should the water spray out of the backup valve continuously or intermittently ? I have a polaris pool vac that does not move at all and the backup valve is continuously ejecting water at a very high rate. so asking. Thanks
@ClearlySeen Жыл бұрын
The water should blow fully out of the backup valve for a short time minute or two then it should shut off if it does not the gearbox inside the back up valve needs to be replaced

I got a new gearbox for my unbroken shell and I can't get the shell closed all the way. Unfortunately, you didn't show this part in the video. Does it slide shut all the way before screwing it together? It seems that there is only one way it can go do to the jet and slot.. What am I doing wrong?
@ClearlySeen3 жыл бұрын
Anytime I had that particular problem the gearbox was not seated properly you want to make sure that it is seated as far down in the shell as possible and then make sure that the shell is lined up properly at the notch. Once that is in there right then make sure to screw the band on the thread all the way down. Hope this helps!

How do you get that cap off?
@ClearlySeen3 жыл бұрын
There is several techniques but it’s not easy usually if there’s a crack in yours already I use a tool to make the split larger you can use like a hammer and a chisel or a flat head screwdriver sometimes it can be very difficult I hear people say but it’s just prying it open is the main thing.
@wattsobx2 ай бұрын
how to you unscrew the oem case? I cannot get my undone.
@ClearlySeen2 ай бұрын
This is one of the main things that people struggle with I need to make a video but since the video is not out if you have a heat gun heat up the ring that goes around it that’s the main part. That’s hard to unscrew when you do, you can take a flathead screwdriver And since it’s heated up, you can break that ring pop it off and open it up with a screwdriver. If you do not have a heat gun you can use a handsaw. If you’re super careful, the object is to break the ring that goes around it.

What is the function of the gearbox?
@ClearlySeen Жыл бұрын
To cycle the backup valve on and off. The backup valve comes on to pull the cleaner away from areas it may be stuck in.
@peedee4065 Жыл бұрын
@@ClearlySeen Thank you for your reply! How does the sensing occur? What knows that the cleaner is stuck?
@ClearlySeen Жыл бұрын
It just comes on every X amount of time and then stays on for a certain amount of time but it’s different with each cleaner
@peedee4065 Жыл бұрын
@@ClearlySeen Thank you very much. So if the cleaner isn't stuck it just backtracks a little, no harm done, but if it's stuck it can reverse out of that area. I've taken over our pool maintenance, so I've been learning as I've had to. These pool sweep cleaners are tricky little bastards, lol, but I'm grateful for the collective body of knowledge on the interwebs, yourself included. 👍

How do you actually open the backup valve. Those parts are off video and I cannot figure out how to get the top off.
@ClearlySeen4 жыл бұрын
If it does not unscrew you’re going to need to break it open I’ve done so with a screwdriver and hammer there’s no real easy way but if there is a crack he would just want to take something like a screwdriver and start there. If there is no crack something like a vice would work.
@rayceballos83164 жыл бұрын
It is difficult, but i was able to get it to unscrew using two "rubber strap wrenches"...

I unscrewed the ring (threaded), then separated the two main body parts by wiggling them back and forth (no threads)

Hello. How can I know my Polaris model number? Thks
@ClearlySeen4 жыл бұрын
If it’s a 280 it will have two water jets on the bottom if it’s a 380 it will have three is the easiest way to know.
@billgriggs34264 жыл бұрын
If you have a main pump and a booster pump it’s probably a 280 or 380. The 360 is powered by your main pool pump alone with no extra pump. I think it uses a fatter hose than the others but am not sure about that. The 380 only has three wheels, two on one side and one on the other. The 280 has a little wheel in between 2 big wheels on one side and like the other person said there is a different number of jets. If you Google “Polaris” and the model numbers you can look at pictures of all of them, figure out which one you have, find a manual, all that.

I could not get my valve apart. I was trying with 2 large pliers and the damn thing would not come loose.
@ClearlySeen3 жыл бұрын
What I normally do is take a flat head screwdriver or chisel and a hammer or a rubber mallet and I essentially go to the crack and make it split directly at the broken area then I pull it apart. Yeah sometimes they are not fun getting apart. Also a vice can really help out.
