That's a good question! No, I do not think so. On the contrary, it may open up a whole bunch of new jobs that did not exist before. But, that's the thing... Like you said, one would need to adapt. However, having said that, the concerns of grave dangers that the AI poses still persist (at least in my mind). Both - old jobs out/new jobs in, and AI risks - can be true and can exist at the same time (or at different points in time)!

AI will takeover mundane jobs ... at first. But with each new iteration the technologies will improve and the kinds of jobs they can takeover will expand. Think of it as the rise of the machines. Initially the societal upheaval will be akin to the advent of PCs and PLCs and the disruptions we saw in the lives of people who couldn't or wouldn't adapt. Many were too old, too unwilling, or to intellectually limited to retrain ... and got swept away by the flood of PC and PLC related technologies. Toffler saw this coming and warned us...

These layoffs have a cascading effect. 1000 less employees in Paytm means lesser people eating in the cafeteria so the cafeteria owner lays off people, less people travelling to work so taxi drivers make less money, less money being spent on clothes and shoes and ironing and dry cleaning, people sitting at home means lesser need for nannies and cooks. Our economies are just castles made of cards.

Actually, there's a decent amount of companies chopping the top management roles down to half and while steadily increasing lower roles and ancillary roles because the need for top-down decision-making is being replaced and automated by AI and they don't need that many people in these positions. If anything, that remains unchanged. What has changed is the amount of people in the market needing jobs again but most people are fighting for their lives to get back into remote positions again because the corporations hold the power again and it's a race right now between hyperinflation, the need for job security, and the great financial reset we're expecting.

New technology always disrupt the old way of doing job… like the computers did in 90s and it will stay for decade or two before it will be replaced by another superior technology. That's only looking at a fraction of the issue.. Yes, there'll be some "collaborative" jobs that use AI.. But the impact of AI is still going to displace FAR more workers than it creates new jobs. The new roles will be for a small minority of high-skill workers, who know how to work with the AI. Most people will not be able to "leverage these tools" in a way that will create enough value to businesses. One person using a team of a dozen AI agents, could do a job that once took 100s if not 1000s of humans before.

AI will replace mundane jobs like telecalling, suggest best insurance and credit cards, simple data entry kind of jobs, SMEs, Consultants, automate trading processes etc. Anything which is boring for humans can be easily done with AI at much lesser cost. Why pay them so high CTC. Its better to focus on key core performing sectors of any economy--- farming, manufacturing, hospitality, jwellery, Naturopathy and Ayurveda/Medical care, Defense, Space, Logistics, Tourism, Spirituality, Real Estate and Banking/Insurance. They are doing these to show profit in papers with the intention to sell for a profit: pity for those who bought these companies because damages in cost cutting are not easily reversible. Example original raw material replaced with cheap stuff, experience workers replaced with migrants etc.

whatever goes up will down.. its natural.. This situation in job market keeps oscillating between Employees and Employers. Last year, it was towards Employees.. multiple offers with unbelievable jump in the package. There was no guarantee candidates would join once offer was made.. on the day of joining, they would either re-negotiate package or simply would not show up, some even resorted to moonlighting... so now, all that accumulated fat is being trimmed. It was expected anyways.
