How Are DINKS Winning The Economy? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
DINK is an acronym for households with double incomes and no kids.
They have become all the rage thanks to social media and the high cost-of-living across the world.
DINKs are winning the economy. Their savings and net worth is higher than that of other family types.
How is that? And are DINKs good for their countries?
Palki Sharma tells you.

Over the years, the opinion I have formed on this topic is - Have children without having any expectation from your children. Have kids for the sheer joy of bringing a helpless life into this world and raising it into a good, productive citizen of the society. In other words, have kids just like having a pet dog - You enjoy being around your pet. But you don’t expect your pet to take care of you in your old age. Have children with the same mindset. Else, stay child free. You will be doing yourself, the unborn child and the world a great favour.

There is different side to it...they decided to have no kids because they know how shitty the life is, or the system is.. they dont want another life to suffer. If you dont think you can be a good parent ...why bring a new life? Its not just party and pleasure ...its more about realisation!

Its better to have no kids then to have and not care for them. Not just financially but also emotionally. Relationships are easy to make but hard to meet the other person's expectations, especially when it comes to children, whose entire identity starts with you. Its a lifetime commitment that sometimes even great parents can't manage. But if you are ready, sure have as many kids you want. Money will somehow find its way.

You are lagging for 10 years. The current fertility ratio is below 2. Most of the new parents are either going for 1 children or 1-2 children. If you add all the children from 10 new couples ( married to 7-8 years) near any posh mohalla of any city you will never get the total of 21 kids ( ideal replacement ratio). It will be hardly around 15-16 kids. So definitely the next generation kids ( after 10-15 years) will be around 40% DINKs.

In India people leave their parents at old age and don't want to take care of them. It happens in most of the cases and also they fight for their share in the property and pension as well but they cannot serve their old age parents or even take their health care. When their parents die they occupy the property and fight with the other siblings who have taken care at the end stage of their parents. So sometimes it feels that having no kids is a better choice.
@kavyak9700
@kavyak9700 9 ай бұрын
It's parents choice to write will to give away their property to anywhere else. Or use it up in their lifetime. Second there is nothing wrong in better old age homes. If you can't stay at home, nobody is there even to talk to older ppl, it's better they r in safe comfortable zone where they can live in independent space , talk to their age group.. In India , the privilege of taken care by kids is only for boys parents. From 1000s of years , parents with only girls kids should be alone , and no one will take care of them. Even daughters taking care of parents is done only in this generation, else that privilege is not fit them even in 80s 90s. Nobody should expect that someone ll take care of them They should take care of themselves. It's again good to be old age homes than stay at confined spaces in cities within 4 walls, no one to talk, no body is at home, even if they fall, or any heart attack etc nobody will be around to take care of emergency situation.. If they r in old age homes these things are addressed and also they get to talk to their age people .

We spend money on books (whatever may be the cost) instead of lunatic movies. We adopt climate friendly lifestyle and same reason behind not having a kid. @@desibigfoot3874 ROFL. Your sentence reflects you "regret" choosing the parent's life over a carefree life which you and the likes of you secretly desire, do you realise that? If choosing a childfree life is the "easy way out", I pity people who are forced to live a life raising children by giving up personal freedom out of social pressure, which, as you confessed, is the "hard way"! Had raising children been such a blissful activity, you would not have envied DINKS or SINKs for their "easy life"! Those who begrudgingly choose to make more humans in 2023 just out of social pressure must suffer the consequences of their choice silently, instead of being jealous of the life chidlfree people choose - the DINK life. If parents are "happy" to raise kids and willing to compromise with the life changes that come with it, why this moral policing at DINKS living their best life? ! Proves my point actually.

But today, thanks to late marriages and late kids.. if we have kids at 30 32 , our parents will be 60 65. They really can't match today's kids level Also sorry to say but our elders I don't generalize here have no value system. Their apathy towards handicapped, racism , or even bitching relatives is not a great value system that kids should take from but unfortunately this is what they have to offer. In front of kids they talk about somones disability, or talk saying someone is dark , short etc kind of words. Or talk about their caste , Or scolding relatives and say elders have good valuesystem. Not all , only few are able to give kids good value system

Producing kids to have financial, emotional, and physical support in your old age is similar to drinking one's own piss these days. Frankly speaking kids these days are not obedient. Now, boy too has to shift away from his parents because of his wife.

I work as NLP coach, trauma healer and Numerlogist. 10 years ago, I strongly felt (based on trend, climate ,economy global circumstances), it's better to not bring another human being on earth. He/She is only going to suffer and blame you for same . Besides, look at GEN Z. Despite being a grown up adult, they're messed up big time. How is going to be further generation. Above all, one needs to justify his/her own existence And do something meaningful, feel and know life closely, discover yourself and x serve your true soul purpose and be content in your last days. We're are obligated under family pressure, society and self satisfaction of our own further generation N "VANSH". Population decrease isn't necessarily a bad thing. There will be an excess of aging population at a particular point, but other than that, it's good if the overall global population decreases over the next century. 10 billion is like the maximum which this earth can handle, and if the population keeps increasing, we'll go from 8 billion to 10 billion very quickly. So people who don't wish to parent kids or are too poor to afford will be doing a favour by not reproducing.

True. Earth's resources are finite and dwindling rapidly thanks to excess consumption (eg. Fast fashion) and climate change.

I really don’t think many of us would survive past 50 so why worry about ageing population I mean you can d!e whenever you want besides I really don’t see future kids will even take care of their parents so all that nonsense and sacrifices for exactly what

I am a S.I.N.K (Single Income No Kids). Not only are children expensive but romantic partnership is also expensive. I work as a general labourer in a furniture factory, so I can’t afford to buy dinner for 2, movie tickets, wine bottles, flowers and gifts.
