This is a really good idea, I have a lot of airbrushes sometimes they may be pulled out of storage at short notice and wish to use it on the spot with active non drying lube.

Does the jelly mix with the paint?

yes but if you mix enough of it that paint will never dry not stick to anything. First spray should be a test and good clean/ flush as to not have contaminate mixed into your work. If the paint was to leak into the rear of the brush, it will not jam up and shall be easy to clean and fix. Never had any past issues.
