Couch has a point though. Belmo's game is more like a modern button-masher with a huge room for error, even for a high-powered cranker. Back in the day people had to be actually consistent. Doesn't help that today oil patterns are easily visible.
@DeanMcCain
@DeanMcCain 3 жыл бұрын
@@omegavladosovich6757 you do know consistency is still a thing, right? If you aren’t consistent you risk getting a big split. Granted, crankers and two handers have a larger pocket, but if you miss by even a half inch, you could risk getting a huge split or bad break.
@marcstevenbalaoro7952
@marcstevenbalaoro7952 2 жыл бұрын
@@omegavladosovich6757 This is actually a valid point. However, it's not complete without realizing how hard it is to learn a two handed style. The toughest part about shooting two handed is to shoot straight and to control power. Shooting straight as a one hander might be easier than cutting butter for pros but even two handed pros at the highest level can't seem to leave the habit of trying to hook it. Don't you notice that Belmonte struggles on the Badger when he lost as a 5th seed to Tom Daugherty because he couldn't shoot it straight enough. Of course, his straight game got better but it cost him a title at the Indianapolis Open against Norm Duke when he couldn't consistently lock in on the left lane.

I've officially lost all respect for Jason Couch. He's so cocky that Rash would destroy Belmo in the beginning, calls two handing a "travesty to the sport", then starts making excuses when Rash loses. Man up, Couch. Give Belmo some credit for his top notch execution, his power, his mental game, and his historic Major championship run. Don't discredit Belmo's win by saying that Del Ballard won the match for him by putting the right ball in his hands. Don't say that Belmo got lucky with his pin carry (it's strategy, not luck because it's not random). Get your head out of your ass and actually look at the sport of bowling. In thirty years, two handers will be the majority of bowlers. If you don't like it, that's too fucking bad.

The two handed style, or just no thumb hole, and Jason Belmonte as well as a few others using it on the PBA tour effectively, has helped bowling in the USA. And Jason couch still had that shit ass attitude because me and my best friend bowled. Handed, I always thought he was a good cool guy. He was one of my favorite blowers but ever since that day he just pushed me and my best friend away and I heard him say to one of the people that put it on and he asked if he really had to bowl with us, like wtf dude. I still bowled with him, when he left I called him an asshole. There wont be any interest for this sport 20 years from now as not much is going on as all the strike looks the same so all you see is most of the strikes with few spare and that is why the sport as compared to its peak in 60s and 70s have declined so very much to the point that players have to do side jobs to keep their homes running..

+Hussain Piplodwala I'd argue with reactive balls strikes look more different than ever, even at the pro level some throw down the right and hook in while others throw left across the lane to right and hook back. but it doesn't change the fact oil patterns can't keep up with advanced balls and pros bowl 230+ even on hard patterns. This means spares and accuracy don't decide the match it's who is unlucky and leaves a 10 pin or occasionally misreads the oil. It's boring when it comes down to a guy with 8 strikes losses to a guy with 9 strikes which most matches come down to

Because Americans generally don't like the idea that some foreigner can come over there, to the PBA Tour, and school the fuck out of them on their home soil, on their TV shows on their Tour. It's not the American dream of their homeboys being smashed and they hate it. Intensely. Xenophobia.

Igloo3471 You're obviously ignorant. In the U.S. we invite the world's best to compete in our professional sports, and a lot of the biggest stars from those sports are not American. Belmo has a lot of support here among bowlers, it takes a lot of balls to bring a completely different style into the highest level of competition and succeed with it. Couch sees bowling as a sacred sport and doesn't like to see the change. All sports evolve, and in in every example, there will be an older person who doesn't like the change because it isn't how they were taught it was supposed to be. Don't judge an entire country, especially the greatest one in the world because of an older guy on ESPN. Thanks

I doubt TJ really disliked Belmo's style as much as he said he did, especially nowadays. Couch is an oldhead, so I can understand why he doesn't like someone doing something different, but TJ mote than likely picked Sean for the same reason that I would nowadays: 2 handers (including myself) struggle on short patterns.

This is one of my favorite telecasts to keep watching over and over again because it’s that good. I understand Rash’s outburst was directed at Jason and it got underneath his skin at the shootout. However, that doesn’t mean you have the right to attack someone for something as silly as a water bottle crackle. Unwritten rules are important, but they shouldn’t be what defines a sport or a player. As a professional, you’re expected to not let you’re emotions get the best of you as well as having good sportsmanship.

Can someone please elaborate for me as to why in these PBA's the 2nd bowler takes out two frames on the first bowl and the 1st bowler only takes 1 frame?
@jackstevens285
@jackstevens285 7 жыл бұрын
Im not sure exactly why but if they didnt do it that way, at the end of the game one person would finish and the other would still have 2 frames to bowl. And throughout the match one person would be bowling against the frame the other guy did 2 turns ago instead of responding to their last bowl. This way it 'leap frogs' instead of one person playing catchup the whole time

how is it cheating? You are still standing behind the foul line when you release the ball.If anything is "cheating in bowling,It is the walled shots in too many bowling centers

+jlin 99 he's referring to the typical house shot in 99% of leagues with heavy oil in the middle and little to no oil on the edge. It creates a funnel so shots wide hit the dry spot and hook back and shots narrow hit oil and don't hook, creating a funnel to the pocket. It's why a typical excellent league bowler with a 210 average probably couldn't break 170 on the oil patterns they played on in this video

If two handed bowling is cheating than curving the ball is cheating, in baseball it doesn't matter how someone pitches just that they hit the glove...
@SportsBoss999
@SportsBoss999 3 жыл бұрын
That's a great point. In baseball, you can throw it straight overhand, sidearm, submarine style. One player could even throw it both lefty and righty. You can throw a knuckle ball, curves, splitters, changeups. Whatever. It's the results that count. In fact, another similarity exists between bowling and baseball: used to be pitchers "cheated" by throw a spitball than dropped off the table. Now, they legally throw a spit-fingered fastball that does the same thing. The fact that Jason and others developed a better way to throw a bowling ball is a credit to him. I can't do it, but I marvel at his bowling ability. Hey, if someone figures a way to throw a bowling ball overhand and be successful, then so be it. Even Walter Ray developed the 2-handed delivery to try and extend him career. He didn't bitch about it - he just did it. Sean Rash needs to shut up and do something about it!
