The axial displacement is having parabolic change in poer along the radious the hub must be 70 percent in diameter to get efficience more than 50%

Not faulting anyone, but I'm surprised by how flat and non-curved the fins on the PBCF are. That's an "intuitive surprise".

Brilliant device 👍

Why don’t the propeller makers just integrate this into their design? Surely the licensing fee would be cheaper than a separate add on? When does the patent expire on this design?

Looks easy enough to make your own version of it.

I think the data shows a 1% fuel saving... Which is still alot to be fair...

at 13 minutes, the graph shows "FOC Saving (ton/Month)", but the narrator said "tons per year".

The added weight of that PBCF is useless, you as a captain will never see the benefit of that device on a vessel that's dam near a 1/4 mile long and weight millions of tons, just design a better propeller
@stephendoherty82912 жыл бұрын
The extra weight of a BCF on any large tanker would be negligible. The prop already has a prop boss weight penalty. A 5% saving on any large vessel is a considerable fuel saving, which is the ships most expensive operating cost - of course the captain wont benefit as he does not own these boats. I doubt cruise ships will benefit as most use azimuth rotating propellors now vs a single screw as presented. I see these BCFs now being sold by other firms (perhaps under license). I do wonder why we're not seeing designs that eliminate post screw vortexes that add so much resistance and performance loss. Subs have been looking to eliminate them for years (to counter noise and vibration impact)
