As a maintenance measure I had the DCR installed on my PS around 3 months ago and have had zero issues. Truck had about 194k on it with the original CP4 so it was a no brainer. It’s not a matter of if it will happen with the CP4, it’s a matter of when; 10k plus in repairs if the CP4 blows, putting in a DCR will keep money in the bank!

Thank you ARod and S&S. Great Vid! Great product. Have ~10k miles of mostly heavy towing (19k lbs 5th) with the DCS. Pump performs flawlessly. (‘17 6.7 F350 dually). Got a 3k psi Fuel Rail boost on the switch, and faster pressure ramp-up I am one of those data junkies, with triple Banks gauges. I still use additive as indicated here for my injector cleanliness and lube support and Cetane boost.

My first Diesel truck , a 2013 f350. I did the DCR install in my truck. It did take me 2 days because I cleaned the upper and lower intakes. Installed a new cool intercooler hose. Also cleaned the engine bay . If a guy with a f350 for 2 months can do it anyone can do this as well.

I live here in California and had a DCR pump installed a couple of months ago. I thought it was just me, but it definitely feels like it cranks harder and starts much quicker. I had my dash light up and say the truck was running under restricted power and then it totally quit. I took the truck to the dealership where I bought it and they said there was metal in the system and everything need to be replaced for $16,000. But they would not put the DCR pump in. They would just replace the CP 4. I ended up taking the truck to mom and Pop shop. They pulled it apart and found no metal and it turned out to just be the pressure sensor. But they had it apart so I had him replace the CP4. Ended up costing me six grand. 2015 with 64,000 miles.

I live in Southern Calif as well and did my own maintenance. I did the DCR pump and also a new H&S cold intercooler pipe and the H&s fuel update to get rid of the plastic fuel filter.

I saw a video that showed a truck with the aftermarket fuel filter that did away with the plastic one and they had issues. They got water in the tank and it rusted the filter which contaminated the system. So I am going to keep the original plastic filter.

Had the DCR installed yesterday by this gentleman on my 2019. 330,000 on original CP4. The one thing that is very noticeable is that it runs very quietly with the DCR. Sounds like a new truck.

Been an RVer for 30 years. Now retired and RV 6 months a year (half timer). Think about what you “think about” as you travel full time. Your Truck and 5th is your Home… Do you want to be one of those that gets “bad” fuel somewhere in the country as you travel…and then one that has the CP4 failure… somewhere across the country? Met up with a full timer that got the failure on the way to the FL Keys. Ended up having to rent another truck due to repair time, pay to have his 5th hitch moved to the rental, wait 2 months for the dealer to repair, then pay to switch his hitch switched back after the repair. Also consider that some dealers are not honoring the warranty on this as there is clause in the warranty that if the failure was caused by the “customer”, repair not covered. Customer used bad fuel that caused the problem is “some” Dealer responses. $12-$15k out of pocket or get into the time and effort to fight the non-covered situation. See ARod’s and other YT vids on this. Where and how do you manage risk on this is the question to be answered…. (Sorry ARod for the long response here.)

With the DPK, and have a failure, you still have the CP4 replacement time and cost. The DPK helps protect the injectors and the rest of the fuel system, but you still have a fuel pump failure to be fixed, and where you are and what you have to go through to get your Home (5th) somewhere and by who, and then get your truck somewhere for repair….

@@louie3552 It’s already happened. We originally had a 2012 F250 with 96,000 miles that we used. Up until then, I’d never even heard of the fuel pump going out. Between the cost of parts, labor, and having to get a rental car, it cost us nearly $15,000. I’d love to go out and get a new fuel pump. But being retired yourself, you know what it’s like being on a fixed income.

Spot on.. Hot rodder for near 40 years and roller lifters were tied together. Here is something to also think about…we have been using additives to not only disperse water (Hot Shot and ArcOil), but add lubrication to counter US diesel lack of as compared to EU diesel blend to address this CP4 situation. What is adding lubricant to the fuel going to do to stop a CP4 “lifter” from physically turning in its journal…. ? Lubricant “helps” items move Easier….. A best lubricant would be reducing (slightly) the ware of a turned roller in the journal …. But it will still shed metal if the lifter turns ….

I have done extensive research on this and spoke to someone high up in Ford, whom I met at Shelby 50th car meet here in California, Ford has done some research on this and the CP4 failure rate on this platform of trucks is less than 5% of all trucks manufactured since 2010. This is the reason why they still employ the Bosch on current MY2024 trucks with High out put with 1200 lb ft of torque. I know you truck guys are served all kinds of ways to spend money on these trucks, but I’m here to tell you the ratio of trucks that have a problem vs All trucks that have this pump is very very small. Company like Ford makes their decisions based on statistics, this is why they did not change this pump. It’s not as big of an issue as these companies make it to be, Millions of 6.7’s on the roads have no problems with the stock CP4. These companies willselll you anything, and take thousands of dollars. I am just giving you another perspective as no one tells you this. I have a 2014 F450 with 240.000 miles, this is my 3rd ford Truck. I have owned 7.3 & 6.0 My current 6.7 when it got close to 200k I got paranoid and did a lot of researched to see if I can avoid the problem before it blows up on me, so I bought the disaster prevention kit for peace of mind. By this time the YT algorithms started showing my all the CP4 failures and that got me more paranoid. I preemptively replaced My CP4 pump for a New one and replaced all the injectors. I sent my old pump and injectors To lab for testing, the pump and injectors passed with flying colors they told me they tested the pump to 40000 psi and out of 8 injectors only one was less than 80% efficiency. Keep in mind these had over 200k miles. So I felt like wasted $8000 to replace parts that were good. I hope someone reads this and don’t make the same mistake on DSR. Just use good quality Diesel, drain your water separator, don’t mix up def with fuel.

Why didn’t you replace the pump over to the DCR instead of the cp4? This makes no sense. If you were so paranoid, remove the paranoia by installing the superior pump….I did the DCR to my 2017 Powerstroke and I love that I’ll never have to even consider it again.

This pump is certified by the highest tier & has passed just like the OEM's. With that being said, please reference that lovely white sticker under your hood, a over your radiator, just behind the headlight. Just because one installs a triangle fuel pump instead of a polygon doesnt Render the warranty void. We have to prove that anything that was done to this truck after the fact or outside of the factory caused whatever to fail fail.

What warranty? If your CP4 fails, Ford will blame water in the fuel and the warranty will be voided (for the fuel system) anyway.
