I mean in their defense, the Karts in this one are pretty clunky compared to most of the series. They're big and they control like a brick on wheels. Plus Peebs barely drifted so it was even worse lmao.

Press Z to swap spots in game. You both have to pick lighter characters for some different carts. You gotta drift more for making those sharp turns. There is also a 4th cup as well to unlock.

Duuuudeessss, I LOVE that you guys are playing this game. Here’s some help for you guys: DK, Bowser, and Wario will always get the heaviest karts no matter what pair The baby characters and koopa (red and green) have low top speed, but some of the highest acceleration Baby Mario and Baby Luigi have a chain chomp as their special Green koopa and red koopa are the only characters that can get 3x green and 3x red shells The bowser/BJ special is a giant spiked shell which is pretty good The combo that I’ve always used is one of the koopas and either Baby Mario/Luigi or BJ

I always use toad and toadette, which I believe is a reward for getting gold for the special cup on 100 cc, and toads kart for accel and speed as weight doesn’t seem to matter that much.

You gotta be crazy to play Baby Mario/Luigi, lol. That Chain Chomp isn't clean and controlled like later bullet bills, it is mad, unchained, and will break off right before you have to turn and you fall off a cliff.

Yeah, that's why it's one of the worst Special Items lol. It's like a Red Shell except it can end up just giving a free mushroom or star to the person you just hit.

If you pause just right at 8:58, you can see the shock waves from the sheer force of Yoshi's tongue completely battering the Peach/baby Luigi car to the point of turning it completely sideways. This occurred at 55 mph, mind you. That was a BRUTAL hit. Well done. Mario Kart is like the modern Roman Colosseum. We applaud its spectacle and merciless onslaught of wanton violence. May the blood of your enemies paint your green koopa shells red, gladiators. Glory!

I miss the strategy that came with choosing characters in this game. The giant banana is good if you're good, because it splits into a group of smaller bananas once it's hit. So I always have Diddy. And then I have Yoshi for the homing eggs, in case I fall behind.

It wasn't so much "Strategy" because of the imbalance. Like some of these items were just bad. Bowser's Shell, Bob-ombs, Yoshi Eggs, Fireballs, they were all ass, and things like Golden Mushroom and Chain Chomp were only good if you played bad. But then we had stuff that was OP like the Giant Banana, the Heart barrier. That were super good and easy to obtain in the top four. And then King Boo and Petey Piranha come along and render the rest of the cast redundant.

True, but this was the first Mario Kart like this. They could've probably gotten the balancing better if they were willing to try. Sadly, they weren't. As an aside, I never liked Petey Pirahna and King Boo. I didn't care much for the randomization of special items, and Petey Pirahna took up too much screen space. anyway.

​@@MissFuzzbottom It's not like it would have taken much effort to. I mean in terms of vehicles, like half of them are just reskins of other vehicles with identical stats. So there's not much they even needed to balance. That's the thing though, because of how Special Items were just like normal items in that they only showed up in specific placements. King Boo and Petey didn't "randomize" it so much as they just had a normal Mario Kart item roulette instead of one with limitations. That's actually the bothersome part about special items in general. Some of the characters had special items that used to be normal items, like Triple Shells and the Golden Mushroom, and stuff like the Giant Banana replaces Triple Bananas.

Turning in this game, you have to commit, there is a fourth cup, and a cup that does all the tracks, yoshi cart is the best no matter what anyone says. You just wanna be very drifty. Basically I know this game really well lol.

The banana is the best special if you're first place, takes up like 2/3s of the road players have to drastically avoid it. Paratroopa and Donkey Kong are the best comp, 3 red shells help get you to 1st quick banana ensures you stay there. Pfff chawenge pwease :P

It feels like Mario Kart 7 and 8 just slapped random gimmicks on in a vain attempt to keep your attention. This one is the most intense and challenging one. I will give 8 the edge in maps though.

I feel like not many people know about the punching mechanic, it is probably one of the most fun broken mechanics to mess with in the right hands. My cousin isnt a fan of how MKDD driving feels but she will have a field day being the item thrower since she gets to punch and steal items!

all the best vehicles in this game are the light weight vehicles like the barrel train. but you need to unlock that vehicle first. the lightweight characters are baby mario. baby luigi. toad. toadette. koopa. koopa paratroopa. bowser jr and diddy kong.
