An interesting fact: pre-historic polar bear remains were discovered in a Scottish cave originating from a time before the interglacial period (we are still in a warm period of that: Holocene) began following the last Ice Age (one of numerous).

The polar bear, I presume. Backshall is an animal I have not liked since his criticism of the team leader on an expedition Backshall was a member of. Backshall made his comments on-camera but away from the guy he was criticising!

Polar bears are doing just fine. Yeah they might be getting closer to people but they’re thriving in their environment. Undoubtedly our efforts have paid off to go from an estimated 5,000 left to nearly 40,000 today..I say, from every indication, that the bears have and will continue to adapt to their environment.

The polar bear is young, extremely hungry and desperate, two minutes 42 we saw the guy with a rifle, if in doubt of any danger you may have to shoot it dead, you’ve let it get too close?
@MurronWright25 күн бұрын
They more than likely would have shot into the air to frighten the bear.

I’m convinced the human species will never listen. It seems each generation isn’t concerned about earth, just the convenience for their own lives. We can do better but it’s easier not to.

@stevio77778 күн бұрын
@ In the past 20 years, polar bear populations have seen significant changes. Currently, estimates suggest there are approximately 22,000 to 31,000 polar bears globally, with some reports indicating numbers as high as 32,000 in 2023. This marks an increase from earlier estimates of 20,000 to 25,000 bears around 2004. Conservation efforts and improved population assessments have contributed to this rise, despite ongoing threats from climate change and habitat loss
