I’m so shocked that I have never come across Broccoli mum before this!!! I’ve been vegan, WFPB as much as I can for 3 and a half years , but I am a total foodie and I need a large volume of food as well! So thanks for this interview. Hopefully this will help me with my own struggles in maintaining my weight. ❤

Gutted I missed this, I was in bed. You and Brocolli mum are basically the main plant based/Vegan channels I watch right now. Nice recipes that anyone can follow, and not focusing too much on the depressing aspects of Veganism. It's a breath of fresh air.

@@pbwithjeremy I saw her in my “travels” on KZbin here and there, and recently on Chef AJ, but in the past couple of days, really got into her videos more. Like you, she’s such an inspiration to me and her kids are so cute, she’s fun to watch. I like down to earth people. I enjoy the cultural aspects of her presentations too. I had to look up what “rocket” is because in the US, it’s arugula. I cracked up when she said it’s “peeing outside” for rain. Anyway, she’s a joy. Isn’t KZbin amazing, how we can all connect on one live video from all over and have fun and learn from each other! Have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends, Jeremy ❤️

Follow up…Hi Jeremy and Ami! I just made a thick chocolate shake/ice cream out of “Ami” ingredients! Chickpeas, sweet potato, frozen banana, cacao powder, rolled oats, almond milk, 1 date, 1 T flaxseed. It just tastes like chocolate soft serve. Can't taste the chickpeas or sweet potato. High protein, high fiber, loaded with nutrients. Next time I'll try it without flaxseed for smoother texture. I did put a little crunchy dry cereal on top . I am so full and satisfied after this breakfast. Warning, possible TMI…half hour after eating, I was a blessed with a trip to the ladies room which for me was fabulous bc I am one of those people you discussed who don’t “go” despite my high fiber vegan intake. My GI says I have a sluggish system 🤷‍♀️. Well, thanks Ami! I will try different varieties such as adding cauliflower to the shake. So excited to discover this type of shake. Will try it on my grandkids who have a limited diet due to their preferences. ❤❤

Many, many years ago, my husband was cooking when I got home. I asked him what he was making. He said, "mustgo". I asked him what that was. He said anything that was in the fridge that "mustgo". So that is what we call a meal anytime the fridge needs to see new meals and fresh veg in it.

Love the volume eater concept because that's exactly myself and my husband. We don't like dieting so since we stopped animal products, ultra processed foods, salt, oil and sugar we eat so much more. Watching this post facto but thank you!! I’m wfpb but still struggling with both chronic pain and middle age weight madness plus dealing w family members who are pretty flexible but “need” brownies (or impossible burgers?) now and then. Back in the 90s I interned for a raw food chef in San Francisco. Dude was toxic but the actual food was electric and amazing and you’re reawakening some memories of things I used to be able to do! I dont struggle with sugar when i have free rein on dates and pomegranates and cherries. And i was never a highly processed food person; I don’t even own a microwave.wfpb ice cream? EASY! What i have deprivation issues with is WINE. I worked as a professional wine critic for many years. I got sent all over the world to interview wine makers and taste what they were doing. The sensualism and poetry of wine are a huge part of me, definitely figuratively, but also literally since it’s the largest source of empty calories in my diet by a mile. Do you guys feel like there is a place for a glass of that in your world or does it just derail everything for you? (i’m about 4/5 of the way through the video and this hasn’t been addressed yet and maybe it will be but I’m just asking anyway.) there are no other aspects of this way of eating that put me on the struggle bus. Wine does.

I get so many great ideas from you, because variety (and treats) are so important! 💕 As for the "protein" question, I think it's linked to menopause--I did watch several videos (and one mentioned the 30 to 40g for each meal) where the stress is put on protein for weight loss and esp. muscle recovery in menopausal women. Which I can attest is a struggle...

Thanks for this interview. I've never heard it called "volume eating" before. I don't love the name because this is what most of us should be doing. Our diets don't include many calories (meat is calorie dense). I joined a weight lose/maintenance program during COVID that taught me we have GOT to eat 8-12 oz of vegetables at every meal along with protein. It seems like a lot but there are so few calories in plant strong diets! We need lots of vegetables for the calories and the fiber. That's what helps us feel full. They also recommend 1 tablespoon of fat with each meal so all our food gets optimized as we digest it. I use seeds or nut butters.

Hello from Uruguay 😁 people laugh at me on my face when I tell that I eat this way. My country and my culture is very proud of be meat eaters. My mum use to worry almost to cry when I switch to vegetarian diet 20yrs ago, so... But if you put behind people's opinion is easy to do even on a toxic enviroment like that. I don't have sweet cravings, but struggle with pasta, breads, etc. Snacking raw carrots helps me with that, and of course 'mate' wich is like hot tea. Great interviewer and guest! Thank you 😊😊

I raised my kids vegetarian and later went vegan, so they never were vegan, but they grew up eating that way. As they got older, they definitely tried meat, but seem to prefer vegetarian and vegan foods. They still eat cheese though. Does the avocado give it a "flavor"? You find? Or does the banana do the heavy lifting there?
@michelletulumello661
@michelletulumello661 Жыл бұрын
@pbwithjeremy I am new to plant based, and I find the avacado has the kind of decadent creaminess that I miss in ice cream. This started out as my daughters' first solid food and yanno, if they leave half the baby food, we eat it, so I liked the flavor combo, then on a cooking show, I saw a guy make avacado banana ice cream, and they won. 😆 I decided to try the vegan plant-based version. I suppose maybe vanilla or almond extract could be added for more sweetness, but I feel like the bananas do that already. Thank you for your channel, It is helping me on my journey to better health. 😁

So glad the channel is helpful - and thanks for the tip on the avocado - I just bought a huge bag at the market this morning so I might try this out :) What's the ratio of Banana to Avocado? I would imagine 2:1 or 3:1 ? @@michelletulumello661

@@pbwithjeremy 2:1 for those little 60 cent avacados I use that you get at Aldi's. Maybe 3 to 1 for the bigger ones? I was thinking if you freeze it too long and you have excess bananas, it might get too hard. If you try it, can you let me know what you thought, and anything you might choose to do to improve the recipe? Theres a coconut non dairy topping (also at aldis) with 20 calories per serving you can put on top of it if you like whipped cream on your ice cream. (I dont use it because my LDL cholesterol is 335). I'm a competant amateur cook but new to cooking plant based. I am motivated because I am working on surviving until my teenagers make it to adulthood and I want to leave them a decent planet as well.

I think most humans are volume eaters because natural Whole Foods are so calorie dilute, you had to be a volume eater to survive. It has to do with strength receptors in your stomach. Some people are more sensitive to calorie density, but they are the odd balls not the norm.

Hi, Does Broccoli Mom say anything about drinking water? PBJ, how about you. Do you drink lots of water on Plant Based Eating?
@pbwithjeremy
@pbwithjeremy Жыл бұрын
You'd have to ask her - but I personally 3-4 L of water a day - that's my main liquid I drink, but I'll also have a black coffee in the morning, and then an herbal tea in the afternoon and sometimes later at night - usually just with water but sometimes with a little lemon. And at night I'll have a glass of my homemade kombucha. That's basically all that I drink on a normal day.

@@pbwithjeremy Thank you for your reply.. From reading your reply, I can see I have a Big problem with drinking water. This is probably why I can’t stay eating this way longer than 2-3weeks. How Are you drinking 3-4 Liters? My question might sound stupid but I’m trying. What do you suggest for a Water Drinker beginner ? ThankYou. Also, does water type matter? Spring, Sink, distilled etc?
@pbwithjeremy
@pbwithjeremy Жыл бұрын
What's your problem with drinking water? I think for women it's recommended 2L a day - men it's 2.8: or something. To put that in perspective it's just 8 cups. Have one when you wake up and before you go to bed and then one with each mean and you're already over halfway there!

@@pbwithjeremy The problem I have with drinking water is, Im thinking that eating PlantBased, I’m already hydrated. Liquid is the last thing I think about but I see this could be my personal problem for not staying on PlantBased eating. However I will make a conscious effort to add water.😂 ThankYou.

@@vikkiyates1934 Yeah - you gotta drink water :) hahaha. Plants absolutely have lots of hydration BUT not enough to satisfy your daily requirements. If you get this app it has lots of great tracking for nutrition, including water - maybe itll help: apps.apple.com/us/app/dr-gregers-daily-dozen/id1060700802

I want to be vegan, plant based but am scared to give up meat. I don't want to make myself sick or worse. I was told we need meat. I don't need to lose weight I'm a 55 year old female, 5 foot and 107 pounds. I do however need to build muscle. I feel weaker. Any suggestions for me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
@pbwithjeremy
@pbwithjeremy Жыл бұрын
You don't need meat - you need nutrients - and you can get them in abundance from whole food plant-based sources. I think the general challenge is people think it will be hard - and it's an adjustment - but it's not hard, I don't think. It just takes some adjustment. I've got loads of recipes on here and Ami does on her channel to. Building muscle has less to do with what you eat (make sure you include protein though) and more to do with exercise. So get yourself some dumbbells and/or resistance bands and look for some videos on KZbin! :) Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

What about if you work in an office where there is a constant stream of junk food EVERYWHERE?
@pbwithjeremy
@pbwithjeremy Жыл бұрын
Is it the kind of office where you can talk to whoever is in charge of that and mention that you'd like to see healthier snack options available. I think it's fair to tell the that those sort of foods are triggering for you - it's no different than someone who can't handle strong scents in an office. You don't have to stop people from eating whatever they want to eat but I think it's fair to request that they aren't left out in the open. If that fails - or if you're not comfortable doing that - then it's about practicing will power. Have some healthy snacks available for yourself and just tell yourself that if you don't want those things then you're not actually hungry. Get yourself a selection of teas that you like :)

im gonna buy a tiny home, awith a sink that i can pass dirty dishes too, and an outdoor kitchen.. and outdoor bathroom and keep a pristine kitchen and bathroom (90% or more, of the time!~) Right now im injured, my sink has had one side disnfected the clean side i think is clean, the fridge got one shelf cleaned, and some others got a wipe..(gonna do two samll fridges in my tiny home and use only one and one if needed).. but it is a darn mess..i wonder if she turned her mother vegan..im sure unhealthy vegans are still more healthy than meat eaters, and statistics prove that, unless you are trying to be unhealthy. there was no real vegan cheese here. daiya i tried once.. never again (id rather the carrot potato nooch which is not cheese)! Stop talking about cheese as im raw til 4 lol........i dont beleive in raw, but raw til 4 i think is working for most ppl.
