Hi again from Nuremberg and thanks for this video ❤ - I recently read „how not to die“ and simply can’t understand how the majority of the society can ignore the given facts on how bad animal products and processed food is for them!!! Not to mention the harm we do in the animals and our environment. Thanks for being a part of the spreading awareness
@pbwithjeremy4 ай бұрын
Hi Helga! I'm with you, it's shocking how the majority of people eat given the information available.
@willp.81204 ай бұрын
Animal products are healthy. People on carnivore are in the best shape of their adult lives. People can easily come out of diabetes with carnivore. Their heart rate improves. They lose a lot of weight. They have more energy. They feel better. Neurological problems improve. Brain fog goes away. They don't feel tired or sluggish. Their blood work is good. inflammation disappears. Achy joints go away. Sure, their total cholesterol may go up, but it isn't the bad cholesterol. Eating vegetarian or vegan results in inflammation, weakness, can result in IBS, as well as a lower quality of life.
@pbwithjeremy4 ай бұрын
@@willp.8120 Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's important to remember that diet impacts people differently based on their unique bodies, genetics, and health needs. While carnivore diets can lead to short-term improvements for some people, especially those with specific conditions, the long-term effects are still under investigation. Many people thrive on plant-based diets as well, reporting benefits like weight loss, lower inflammation, improved heart health, better digestion, and more energy. In fact, numerous large-scale studies have shown that plant-based diets are associated with lower risks of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. For example, fiber (which isn’t found in animal products) plays a crucial role in gut health, reducing inflammation, and supporting the immune system. Plant-based diets are naturally high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that are key to reducing oxidative stress and preventing chronic diseases. The claim that plant-based diets lead to IBS or lower quality of life doesn’t hold true for everyone. In fact, a plant-based diet can often help those issues when done with care and balance, as it helps reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and provides the body with a wide array of nutrients. While cholesterol numbers may vary depending on the individual, it’s important to differentiate between types of cholesterol and the role of LDL, HDL, and triglycerides in heart health. High cholesterol, particularly when LDL levels rise, is still linked to an increased risk of heart disease in many studies, despite how some people feel on certain diets. I think what’s most important is that we continue learning from evidence and adjust our diets to best support individual health goals. Thanks for sparking this discussion!

@@pbwithjeremy I'd wish plant-based would be a standalone term for diets or dishes mostly made of plants. That would leave a little wiggleroom for some non-vegan ingredients. Unprocessed animal products aren't necessary for a healthy diets but sure can make them a lot more accessible. They have a high density of micro nutrients and protein, and their negative aspects are either overblown (e.g. dietary cholesterol having little impact on blood LDL) or stem from over-processing and overconsumption. Imo it makes a massive difference, if someone eats hot dogs and fast food burgers on the daily or if they have a steak once a month. (The ethical dilemma is a different story of course.)

I've been following Dr. David Jennings (St. Michael's Hospital) Portfolio Protocol Diet. It has been a struggle to keep to eating this way when no one I know (including my husband) eats this way. It is tough when everyone around you thinks you're an extremist. The Standard North American Diet is so pervasive. Eating out is near impossible, there's so much butter/fat in everything. Cooking for yourself is the best solution. I've appreciated your cookbook reviews a lot. Thank you!

Vegans and Vegetarians have a higher incidence of having children with autism. Plant-based diets will not provide sufficient protein, amino acids, or essential nutrients like choline, which are crucial for brain health and development. Animal products like beef, eggs, fish, chicken, and dairy are rich sources of choline. B12 deficiency and iron deficiency are another avenue that being a vegan/vegetarian can take you down. Vegans are really big on "natural and organic" but they do not hesitate in taking processed supplements to cover the nutrients their diet CANNOT give them.

The fact of the matter is that you are eating "healthier" by giving up processed foods, but you are not eating a species appropriate diet which happens to be carnivore. Anything you can eat might be vegan - but only meat will give you every nutrient you need without a supplement. B12, DHA, etc. Conversion rate on iron and omegas is less than 15% AT BEST and many people can't convert. Even if you were to eat spinach in the amount of the iron you need, adjusted for conversion, the oxalates would kill you.

Hmm I’m always conflicted between going completely plant-based or having meat, seafood, and poultry in my diet. I like plant based but I do know that many vegetables contain anti-nutrients but when eating meat for example, we are fully able to acquire the nutrients. Also, there were a lot more farmers in the 1900’s so bacon and eggs were a staple to their diet and vegetables were actually used occasionally to give their food flavor. It’s hard to believe that vegetables are good for us to eat when most vegetables contain natural pesticides in them to prevent insects from killing their plant since vegetables do not have seeds. If plants want to prevent insects from eating their plant, why do we eat them? Also, some people that are vegetarian/vegan tend to be malnourished and I believe it’s due to our bodies not being able to fully take in the nutrients said to be in plants (vegetables)
@pbwithjeremy4 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s great that you’re exploring what works best for you, and it’s understandable to feel conflicted. There’s a lot of information out there about plant-based vs. omnivorous diets, so it can be tough to decide. Regarding anti-nutrients, it’s true that plants contain compounds like phytates and oxalates, but cooking, soaking, or sprouting can reduce their impact, making nutrients more bioavailable. Plus, many plant foods contain protective nutrients that actually enhance overall health, like fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins. As for meat, poultry, and seafood, they do provide certain nutrients like B12 and heme iron more readily than plant-based sources. However, a well-planned plant-based diet can meet all of your nutritional needs too, though it might take some awareness of things like B12, DHA, and iron sources. The idea of vegetables containing natural defenses, like pesticides, is interesting-these compounds can actually benefit us as humans in small amounts by boosting our immune system. Many of these natural chemicals are responsible for some of the health benefits of vegetables, such as their antioxidant properties. In terms of malnutrition, it often comes down to how any diet is balanced. Both plant-based and meat-based diets can leave people malnourished if they’re not well-rounded. On a vegetarian or vegan diet, being mindful of essential nutrients and how to source them is key. But it’s also important to note that with today’s understanding of nutrition, many people thrive on plant-based diets when they make sure to cover all their nutritional bases. At the end of the day, it’s about finding what works for your body and lifestyle. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, but whatever path you choose, balance and variety are important!

@Moralatheist1014 ай бұрын
Gosh - You must be really deficient in B12, Taurine, choline, carnosine, creatine, DHA, D3, and iron. Might should look into that. Non-heme iron only has a conversion rate of less than 15%. You'd die from oxalate poisoning if you ate enough spinach to cover your daily requirements IF your conversion rate was at its max. The conversion rate from ALA to DHA is even less and very inefficient. So enjoy taking your mass produced, synthetic and processed supplements. Cuz there is no way to get everything you need from plants.

The main problem is people eating too much ultra-processed foods and added sugar. Also too many refined carbs. The food pyramid is messed up with saying you should be eating 6-11 servings of cereal, bread, pasta, etc. In general meat, dairy, and eggs aren’t the problem. I’m trying to work on eating more whole foods, however I do eat meat, dairy, and eggs, and am not giving that up. There is no one single diet that is right for everyone. The key to any healthy diet is cutting down on added sugars and ultra-processed foods. The low fat fad of the 1980s and 1990s wasn’t good because when you take the fat out, in order to make the product palatable, more sugar was added in. Margarine had been out for many years before it was found out that trans fats are the worse kind f fats for health. Also, too much of any food, be it animal-based, plant-based or even water, can be harmful.

Great synopsis. But I have to add, all of this "innovation" and degraded crop and food production wasn't only to "feed more people" and "make more money," it was calculated and conspired by private/public interests, in collusion with big medicine, ultimately to undermine the health, and therefore sovereignty and ability to think clearly, of the populace. The problem has always been the hoarding of land, wealth and natural resources by a few to exploit, disenfranchise and disempower the majority. But GOOD NEWS!! Most of us can still choose to eat a whole food, plant based diet, choose what media we listen to and watch, and how we move our bodies. God has made is so we can still use our free will to choose to do the right thing for our and our family's health and wellbeing.

I remember traveling to Paris several decades ago, and hearing the media outrage of McDonald’s putting a restaurant in Paris. The ultimate insult was that it was on the Champs-Elysee. So, of course, I had to walk by and check it out the monumental problem. It was crowded with a waiting line! I had no intention of eating there and I was sure it would be mostly empty. Quelle surprise. Even the French are just as easily tempted. One of my favorite things to eat when I visit Canada, is poutine. Unfortunately I gave it up a while back, but I found a restaurant here in St. Louis that makes a vegan version. It’s good but not great. Have you run across any vegan versions?

Never been overweight myself, always very thin. However I am not plant based but meat based. Fast food is mostly plant based anyway. The key to health seems to be in avoiding anything from a factory. If you can catch and cook, or pick and eat it's better. Cooking and fermentation can male inedible things nutritious. As for me I never eat leaves, roots stems or seeds.

Leaves, roots stems and seeds make up a lot of very tasty and nutritious things. Being thin is great, but it doesn't tell the entire story. How often do you have your bloodwork done to check your levels?

I went carnivore and my health became better. Eating foods that my great grandparents ate.
@pbwithjeremy4 ай бұрын
That’s great to hear that you’ve found a way of eating that works for you! It’s true that our ancestors' diets were different, but they also varied widely depending on location, access to food, and cultural practices. Many of our great-grandparents did eat more whole foods, which is something we can all benefit from, whether plant-based or animal-based. At the same time, our understanding of nutrition has evolved since then. We now know that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes can offer powerful health benefits, including lowering the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. These plant-based foods provide fiber, antioxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals that many of us don't get enough of. Ultimately, everyone’s body responds differently, and it’s great that you found what works for you. I think the key is making sure our diets are balanced, sustainable, and supportive of long-term health. Keep doing what makes you feel your best, and it’s always good to stay open to learning about how different foods can affect us over time. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Carbs shouldn’t all be lumped into one category. Carbs are part of a healthy balanced diet. Just eat them in whole food form.

I'm addressing oxalates in an upcoming video this week. SPOILER: The foods that are highest in oxalates are also high in fiber, magnesium, potassium, and phytate. These are actually stone inhibitors and help flush out the oxalates. So.... it's a bit of a myth.

@@pbwithjeremy I'm very aware of the benefits of a wfpb diet. But I don't think it's public knowledge. Too many people still think you need meat to get protein. It's just good practice to cite specific studies if you will make sweeping claims about health and nutrition. Also, that bit about what americans ate in the early 1900s definitely needs some references. Any carnivore can just as easily say "americans ate lots of butter, milk and steak" without any reference and people will believe it.

The fruits and vegetables today are not the same as hundreds of years ago or even 100 years ago... nutrients have been depleted from the soil.. and everything is bred to be sweeter and look better to hold up in storage... fruit contains so much sugar now that it's practically candy... a little bit of fruit in season is probably ok... and anything milled into flour is also highly processed. If you're going to incorporate tofu you need to make sure it's organic and non gmo... what you're touting is better than fast food and only shopping from the middle aisles of the supermarket but there are clean sources of animal protein that are affordable and nutritious ... 😊
@pbwithjeremy4 ай бұрын
The changes in animal protein has undergone waaaaaay more changes in the last 100 year - the last decade even! And the majority of the world doesn't have access to the VERY small amount of animal protein that isn't part of a factory farm system. I'll take more whole food plant-based diet anyway for optimal health.
