I grew up with the son of the guy who did the graphics. William Arthur Huff, or Art Huff, as he hated the name William. The main character, what you're looking at, is literally a super-deformed version of Art Huff! That looks like him when he was a little bit younger compared to when he was actually doing the graphics for the game. They also wanted to do a lot more with the game, but at the time, NEC wouldn't give them access to a larger capacity Hucard/Turbo Chip. It might be that at the time it was just way too expensive for NEC to give them a larger card for this game. I believe that Raiden was the first 4 megabit card, and Bonk 3 was 8 megabit, but those came out a year or two later when prices went down on chips. Of course Ghouls and ghosts for the SuperGrafx was 8 megabit but I'm assuming that it was expensive to make as it was I believe literally the first 8 megabit game ever, even before Strider. I'd have to check the release dates to confirm that though.

Nearly everything about Ghost Manor bespeaks of developer ICOM's attempt to annoy the living hell out of their audience

Am I the only one who thinks the hero looks a bit like Chucky? I guess it's kinda appropriate for a horror themed game?
