​​@@thosemerc3113 Savestates are often a product of whatever program you're using to run the game (Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is from 2002, I highly doubt a modern machine is going to run it without some kind of backwards compatibility emulator), the game doesn't have to include the feature natively. Savestates used here would probably be to ensure that if the runner got a game over they wouldn't have to play the whole game again - just restore to the savestate from before the stage where you got a game over and stitch the successful runs together in editing.
