Touhou 6: The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil | Lunatic Perfect (No Deaths/Bombs, Full Spell) (ReimuB)

Here's my EoSD LNN!
Nasty category, I didn't experience these levels of frustration in 2hu since my keyboardfart 1MNB in SA.
This is a category that can easily be underestimated until you really start looking into it. The problem with the game is not even necessarily that the bullet patterns are hard, but that all the hard patterns have a lot of randomness to them. And considering LNN is all about survival consistency, randomness on hard patterns is your worst enemy.
Also, this game has its fair share of very hard patterns as well, even if we don't take randomness too much into regard. Most notably the 6 green books on stage 4 before Koakuma, Killing Doll on Sakuya, and Scarlet Meister on Remilia. Outside of these huge killers, there are also cards that aren't too hard but very rng-sensitive. Bury in Lake, Water Elf, Emerald Megalith, Sakuya's nons on stage 5, the Sakuya midboss in stage 6, Young Demon Lord, Vampire Illusion and Scarlet Gensokyo all belong to this. These patterns can jump from being entirely free to giving you RNG that makes you wonder why you're even trying to fight against someone that can manipulate fate at will.
I have lost at least 7 runs to Remilia, I don't know any other final boss that gave me this much pain on LNN. Scarlet Gensokyo is a horrible card for this. Everyone who can do lunatic 1cc can capture it occasionally, but consistently capturing it is ridiculously hard due to how much its difficulty fluctuates depending on RNG. One time it's almost the easiest card she has, another time it's the hardest thing in the game. Scarlet Gensokyo managed to kill me 2 times before, and both of those times were a while ago already, so I'm not a particular fan of that card.
Also, green books on stage 4 are not to be underestimated. Most of the time they're as hard as PDH and sometimes even worse. Luckily I managed to get pretty okay consistency on it but it's a really rough pattern and I'm glad it's only at the midgame.
The RNG made the game quite frustrating at times, but it also caused for fun situations so in the end it all evens out or whatever.
Is this the hardest game to LNN? Maybe. For me it probably was and forever will be. LoLK went a LOT smoother once I got to doing runs, but I do have to note that I always had a lot of feel for LoLK, and I didn't for EoSD. Therefore I don't want to say that one of the two is objectively harder. But what I can definitely point out is that LoLK LNN is not the peerless LNN that lots of people used to make it out to be. EoSD has the same level of brutality, if not more. But these two are most likely by far the hardest ones.
EoSD LNN is different in where its difficulty lies compared to LoLK though. I think EoSD is much more approachable, since only books and maybe KD/Meister really require a very high minimum level of skill. And then for the other patterns you can eventually "luck through" and win anyways. I had my first 1mnb within about a month, whereas with LoLK it took longer I think. In LoLK I feel like a lot of patterns require higher minimum "fundies", things such as the laser fairies on stage 5, the final section on stage 5, some of clownpiece's attacks, doremy's nonspells, and some junko stuff as well.
The only possible co-candidate EoSD and LoLK might get is UFO, but even though that game is infamous for its very hard Lunatic 1cc, I doubt the LNN is really as bad as LoLK/EoSD due to lack of really difficult patterns. The RNG is there, though.
Anyways, my next goal is IN LNN with Scarlet Team so I won't be looking into UFO much for now.

I don't know a Scarlet Team LNN either. According to the LNN lists that I know, it's the only team that doesn't have an LNN yet. I toyed around a little with IN Scarlet Team last month and it really doesn't seem too crazy. Sakuya has some flaws but she functions just well enough to still do minimal "human shot" things without it getting annoying. Remilia is an amazing shot and Solo Remilia almost sounds equally appealing as doing Scarlet Team (but using Scarlet Team is probably more fun). Remilia's shot type is the best of all Youkai shots, the only issues she has is that she doesn't have the smallest hitbox and that she's a little too fast for a focus shot. I don't know why nobody really tried Scarlet Team LNN yet since Magic team sounds more tedious unless you constantly use Malice cannon. I do need to really learn the Reimu fight though, as I was mainly a Border+Ghost team player in the past and very rarely fought Reimu. And she's probably a little harder than Marisa for this as well, so that's gonna be fun.

Congratulations! It's funny you mention the "feel" of a game, since as Reimu B, my feel for this game is almost perfect I know exactly when to shotgun, when to move away, the exact routes of stages, have a good feel of every single attack and when they're going to end, and even being able to move properly enough that I can bravely dash through two pixels of a bullet gap without even thinking about it even if I haven't touched the game in months This game was actually my first ever 1cc of any Touhou game (with a bit of SA in the middle since that was really popular when I started out) and I have watched so many videos and reviewed it, both other players' and my own playthrough to an unhealthy degree I feel like I'm almost in sync with this game (as Reimu B, I never got used to Marisa's uncomfortable speed and to this day, I still don't like playing as Marisa) Killing Doll? Sure, I can capture that consistently somehow Scarlet Meister? Hardly a problem, just focus on the scattered bullets (just kidding, I know it isn't that simple, but I do capture it consistently and I used to get confused when others mention how hard it is) Unfortunately, I never really got to that level of "sync" with any other game since, but because of my history with this, it's probably my favorite Touhou to play

Yeah, it really gets mean after that. It's actually kinda annoying, because stage 1,2 and most of stage 3 are so easy, you always have to play through that every time you fail a run and there's just... nothing going on. It feels like a pretty big waste of time and energy whenever you're on those stages. LoLK is a lot nicer in that regard: the hard stuff is pretty spread out, so it never gets really boring and you're not constantly grinding the same 10 minutes because of it.

(I'm late but hopefully it's useful to someone) EoSD has aged quite a bit software-wise. You probably have to do some configuration to make it work. My friend Maribel made a guide for this: maribelhearn.com/faq#eosd I myself have trouble getting EoSD to work properly, so have some patience & expect that you might run into a problem or two before it works properly!
