Thrilling music. What a shame that, after writing The Rite of Spring and this, instead of beginning a phase of primitivistic writing, Stravinsky found himself at a compositional dead end and had to look elsewhere, finding Neo-Classicism beginning with Ragtime and The Soldier's Tale.

my favourite version is by Teodor Currentzis. it's in russian and transmitting Stravinsky's language and music better
