Bought this card for $440 USD, it's awesome. Boosts out of the box with no OC to 1949MHz. Running it on an Acer XB270HUbprz (purchased for $450 from acerrecertified), and it has been a fantastic upgrade from my 970. I wanted to go for a 1080, but the awesome warranty I got from MicroCenter will allow me to trade it back in price I paid and provide a "cheap" upgrade to a 1080ti in a few months, if not a year.

Sorry for the late reply, and you may have found this out already, but the only difference between the non OC version and the OC version is that the OC version comes out of the box with a standard overclock. If you are proficient with overclocking your GPU and have a program like MSI Afterburner, you can overclock the non OC version too.

I'd go for EVGA cause of the customer service, my 780 popped, contacted them, they replied the same day, sorted out a postage label the next and sent it off. They received it and sent out a replacement like 2 days later and it turned up and it was a 970 SC! Was really impressed, can't see Asus doing that. My second choice would be a Palit Jetstream/Game Rock card due to it being way cheaper than most and the cooler being effective and silent whilst offering top end boost clocks out of the box. Eg. Palit Super Jetsream - 1835mhz boost = £399 vs Asus ROG Strix OC - 1835mhz boost = £499. Just ridiculous really.

I got myself a BenQ XL2730Z. Which means I'm gaming on a WQHD 144Hz monitor. Currently I don't want to go for a AMD card even if i got a freesync monitor (don't need freeesync the moment i got high enough framerates and the 1070 and 1080 are pushing enough fps to make freesync unnecessary) because of their bad driver support, their software and missing stuff like shadowplay. Also there's currently NO competitor for the 1070 and 1080. And AMD cards are well known for their huge power consumption (not talking about the RX480, but about the Fury X which is the only card getting close to the 1070 in some games). Should I go for the 1080 because of me playing on a 1440p 144Hz Monitor? Or should the 1070 be enough for the next years?

Hmm .. for an extra $150 more you can purchase the EVGA GTX 1080, $200 more the Gigabyte G1. Now for Full HD, 1920x1080, heck yeah the GTX 1070 is a beast, but for WQHD, 2560x1440, no! You only tested a few games, not to mention FPS games or any forthcoming games. The GTX 1080 makes a huge difference for those whom have a WQHD monitor and especially 144 Hz 2560x1440 gaming monitors, and those with 21:9 (3K) monitors.

I just bought 1070 strix and I don't see a huge difference between 1080 and 1070 that will makes say WOW! 10 more frames just for extra double the price of 1070! I better buy 2x1070 better than buying one 1080! Ok, 1080 has a GDRR5X and it sounds great, but for that price it doesn't deserve it. i was planning to buy 2x1080 and hopefully i had an issue and the payment was declined haha, so then I changed my mind and I bought 1x1070 because i'm going to play in ultra HD.

Ark will barely get 50 fps at 1080p medium to high settings, its a horribly optimized game. COD youll get atleast 100fps at those settings. GTA maybe 60-70 fps those settings. Skyrim 70-100 fps those settings. Fallout 4 60-70 fps those settings.
