PCIe to PCI Adapter. Can I still use this old card?

This was my attempt to use an old M-Audio Audiophile card in a new computer.

As far as I can see, the only reason the card is "floating" is because the plastic standoffs under the adapter card are too high. Just take them out and cut some plastic on the sides of the standoffs so that the card doesn't stand too high. Don't worry about the grounding, this will be provided via the molex connector.

cards floating because he removed the original standoffs and screwed it to the motherboard standoff, also why it isnt aligned correctly

hi am the same as you i have the same range of m-audio cards and i am the same a been using my cards the same thing as well i used to have 4 cards as well delta 44 they cost alot back in the past £250 in the uk

LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, I USED TO OWN PCIe from RME , Brend new from the package, did not work on Brend new PC, I was weekends investigating what could be possible wrong, I bought from sweetwater, then I found out, Sweetwater knew the all entire time, that the product was defective, the RME knew that they're selling faulty device on US market, trust don't waste your time trying to buy RME PCie card, you have to be Lucky men, those cards arrived in the US dameged, they all knew that, this card has RECALL IN GERMAN, I RETURN THE CARD FROM SWEETWATER TRUST ME THE GREATES DECITON I MADE , I WENT AT AMAZON I BOUGHT M-AUDIO DELTA 1010 I LOVE IT, CLEAN SOUND, BETTER THAN THUNDERBOLT TRUST ME! The card was sent to United States with defects, return it, let remind you something, they are not all of them, it's the series that was sent to US are faulty, I did research it, I investigate, I called RME, then I found out the truth! Sweetwater is playing games with people

I bought a CSL PCI Express adapter to connect my delta 66 Audio PCI card to PCI Express it was horrible ,Crackle and Analog Distortion. its not working for me . asrock mainboard z87pro so put it back ,to old PCI standard on that motherboard.

@@herlandercruz3761 there are some problems but it can be used. need to pay attention to drivers. I think m audio does not release updated drivers for these cards.

The first thing I noticed, that put me off your video, is that you have your finger wrapped around the board touching the traces. If you have any static build up on your clothes, it will find its way onto your fingers, onto the traces, and could possibly blow the junctions on the PC board chips. In very dry environments, static can build to 40,000 volts. Whereas I never use a ground strap, I do make sure my body is discharged by touching both hands to metal and I only touch the card around the edges. The second thing that put me off was you pondering how the device should work. You should make the video after you have worked all that out.

Let board float attach card and card screwed to slot should hold fine. If u screw board and its not in proper place addin card will miss slot to drop in...

you can go backward through the generations but not forward. pci express is newer than pci

@@tobiwonkanogy2975 there are adapters that can do that, but you'd be severely speed limited through the interface. Under best conditions, you'd have about half the bandwidth of a single pcie 1.0 1x slot.

It really makes no difference, it only depends on which way the reader interprets it. To me it makes sense, as it's starting at the computer/motherboard, which is PCIE. Obviously you could only usably have a converter to slot into the PCIE on the motherboard to PCI, as PCIE is much faster.
