Q: What if I cannot locate the options for Legacy, CSM, or UEFI and I have explored all the tabs?
A: If you can not change the settings in BIOS or if changing them did not help your situation, skip that step and proceed with the rest of the steps in this updated video: • How To Fix HP No Boot ... . What was the result of the diagnostic test?
Q: What does it mean 'Hard Drive SMART Check FAILED'
A: If your HDD failed the test, that means your hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced.

Then you will have to install Windows onto the new one.

Q: The diagnostic scan says that my Hard Drive is not installed.
A: If its saying 'uninstalled' or 'unavailable' then the HDD is most likely either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. You can see that done here in this updated video: • How To Fix HP Boot Loo...
After that, try the diagnostic scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see replacements here in the Computer Component List: www.amazon.com...
You would also then need to install an operating system onto the new drive.

Q: Changing settings in BIOS didn't help and everything passed the test?
A: If changing the settings in BIOS did not resolve the issue and the diagnostic test passed all components, then its most likely an operating system error. Try to reinstall Windows.

Q: My diagnostic test says 'Unavailable' or I cant run it. What do I do?
A: I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. You can see that done here in this updated video: • How To Fix HP Boot Loo... . See if that helps.
If you cant run the test, then we don’t know for sure if the HDD is bad or not. You can proceed a couple different ways. You can assume its good and that the Operating System is the cause of your error. Or you can assume its bad and replace it before installing an Operating System to the new one. In my HP laptop, instead of "Hard Drive Check" is Storage Tests, and when I click it takes me to a page where there's 2 options: quick and extensive check (same as the video). But when I click "quick check" nothing happens, it just takes me back to the same page. The memory test worked and passed.

Thank you a lot. I tought i had lost all I have. I just finished cleaning the insides of my laptop, and before doing that i unplugged the battery, for safety obviously, after i cleaned it i plugged everything back, started the laptop, but it was not booting with a "The CMOS checksum is invalid." error. HP diagnostics was saying I had a dead hard drive after a BIOS update. I had already checked the system time and reloaded default BIOS settings. Once I switched to legacy everything worked per normal.

Great video, very informative, thank you. The only thing I'd like to add is for newer HP laptops like mine there's also a known issue of the Intel Optane memory getting corrupted or due to a hardware issue which doesn't allow this bootable USB to recognize the hard drive. Therefore you have to include the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers for the specific laptop within the boot USB so it will see the hard drive during the recovery process. The use of the Rufus utility seemed more effective than HP's own system recovery process so I appreciate you having shared this video.

If its saying 'uninstalled' or 'unavailable' then the HDD is most likely either bad or loose. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. You can see that done here in this updated video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onzFY6OGhteeiM0 After that, try the diagnostic scan again. If it still says that its not installed, then its most likely bad and needs to be replaced. You can see how to do that here; kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn_TZn6YpJ6ofsk. When i do a hard drive check quick check it says no hard drive installed please check the power and data cables are connected properly help

That means the hard drive is either loose or bad. I would first try 'reseating' the Hard Drive. That is where you unplug it and then plug it back in, making sure its properly plugged in and secure. When I try to reset it goes through to os verification off but then when I push ctrl + d. It says up top developer mode is disabled on this device by System policy and I bought this at a yard sale so I don't know how to do anything else on it. underneath that reads only firmware ID Google f l e x and a bunch of numbers active firmware ID and a bunch more numbers and instead of having push spacebar to reset the Chromebook it says press enter to confirm you wish to turn OS verification back on and then it says to go back press escape under that there's not no push space bar so I don't know what to do
