Sorry, but the amp rating of the AC adapter being higher than the computer would not be a problem at all. It merely represents the maximum current that the adapter is capable of supplying. If the laptop draws less, that's perfectly fine.

Hello! It's so unfortunate that I stumbled upon this video only after I ordered a new battery. So my situation: I ordered a new battery for my Acer because I thought the old one needed to be replaced. It wasn't charging and I could not use the laptop without having it plugged in. I've just received a new battery, the computer is showing that it has a 27% charge, but once I remove the AC, the laptop shuts down the same way as it did with the old battery. I began checking the voltages, the laptop is receiving a steady 19.5V, but some of the battery pins are showing 0. Out of 5 or 6 pins, I believe only one of them showed 3.2V. What do you think? EDIT: I wrote the above comment while I still had the laptop disassembled. I noticed that one of the battery terminal pins was a bit bent. Didn't think it would matter much since the voltages were weird. I bent it a little downwards to make sure they all line up. After assembling it back together, the laptop actually powered on without the AC. And it's even charging now. So, based on my personal experience, if at least 1 battery terminal pin has more than 3V, it shouldn't cause issues.

Hi! Hope you are well! quite a long message (forgive me!) but: So I got an Acer v3 574, and it has a charging issue. When plugged in whilst turned on and in use, the charger would constantly connect and disconnect. Sometimes this happens in quick succession and sometimes a bit slower. I can tell because the backlit keyboard turns on when plugged in and a beeping noise is made, but when it disconnects another beeping noise is made and the backlit keyboard turns off. (backlit keyboard is fine, it's just default settings to save on battery). This doesn't happen all the time. As I am typing this it's working fine. I tried removing the battery and working only on AC power but it has happened in that case too (the laptop doesn't shut off though, just beeping noises (IIRC) and the keyboard light turns on and off), I guess this rules out a bad battery? all updates are installed, and this continues to happen even if I disable/uninstall and then reinstall the drivers associated with the battery ("Microsoft AC adaptor" and "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery") There is BIOS update available but given the issue and a BIOS update requiring the charger plugged in I am not going to risk it. I have used the multimeter to check: -Charging cable (the one that plugs into mains), I get 240 volts AC (UK) -The charging pin, I get around 19.45 volts (it's rated for 19V) (it oscillates between 19.45/19.46, shouldn't be an issue right?) -The power jack unplugged from the motherboard, same as above. -The power jack port, same as above - The port connecting to the battery (without the battery plugged in), from left to right it connects to the corresponding wires from the battery: 2 black wires, yellow, blue, white, green, and 2 red wires. These are the readings from yellow to red: -Yellow: 3.35V -Blue: 3.35V -White: 2.49V -Green: 0V -The two reds: both 0.78V I have used my friend's charger, and I never saw the same effect when using his charger, whereas when I switched back to mine it would work fine for some time and then start connecting/disconnecting. This confuses me because following your instructional videos (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3PLpIl-nsmYfac and kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqHEk6mog8aimrc) I got normal voltage results (right?...), as in, despite those normal results could the issue still be with the charger? Could it be something to do with the amp output of the charger? or is it software? or a motherboard issue? If I have written anything in a confusing way please lmk, happy to clarify. Thanks! EDIT: I should add that it charges perfectly when the laptop is turned off.

Hey man, would appreciate your advice for this: I've been facing a lot of issues with my Acer e5 575g 56gy laptop and i'm at my wits end. So two months back, the laptop charger suddenly starting charging the laptop erratically. If we adjusted the socket a bit, it wouldn't charge, and at other times it would. After a while it completely stopped charging. We got a replacement charger, and all of a sudden, Windows would not detect the battery, a cross sign showing on the battery icon. However the laptop would run fine whenever the charger was plugged in. The moment we removed the charger, it would go off. I followed the guide to restart the battery via pin method, which did not work. At the service center, they put in a new battery, and this time while the battery was detected, the charge stood at 0%. I asked them if the issue was with the connectors inside, and they said that it was their new battery itself which was faulty. What should i do now? I could get a new battery myself and replace it, but is there any way I can check whether the issue is in the internal components or the battery? (Battery is internal).

Hello @PC Monkey! Just this afternoon, I encounter this problem on my laptop, it's Acer Swift SF314-56G model. After 100% charged I plug out the charger but after 10-15 mins of using, it says Locked and turns to black screen and after that I plugged in the charger again and open my laptop however the battery is no longer storing charge. needs to plug in for it to be used. I tried the first step in ur video but windows are up to date. I can't perform the second step which need an ameter since I don't have the device. I am so curious about the word appeared before that battery problem "Locked" then shutdown. Any thoughts??

I am enjoying your explanation it has been really helpful. Please i have an issue with my Intel HSBUB-SDS laptop at a point the battery was just showing longer hours like 9-20 hours and but i would use it for up to 8 or 9hrs before it shutdown and it doesn't go beyond 50% or 90% before shutting down. But after i reinstall the window again cos i had to format it, so presently the battery is just showing like 17 minutes remaining and before i know it the battery will go off before that elapse. What could be the solution please?

Hi there. Thank you for a great demonstration of how to deal with the battery aspect of this particular brand of computer. I have a rather older version of TOSHIBA SATELITE A665-S6070 laptop. I just ordered a battery pack from Amazon and installed it. Plugged it and hoped that it would work. It shows that it’s fully charged but when I unplug the charger to see if it would run on the battery power alone, to my dismay it’s just doesn’t start. No power. Has no start, no go. In this case, What do you think is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. LP

I’m not sure what happened with mine, I spilled tea on it but lifted and tilted it to make sure most of it didn’t seep in through the keyboard, I then opened it up and cleaned up what I could (a stripped screw prevented from completely removing the motherboard and battery) it seemed mostly dry from what I saw but then again I didn’t get a look at the under side of the board when I flipped my acer, I did disconnect a few things including the battery and reconnected them, but when I turned it on it was fine aside from a pink light instead of the blue which I had never seen the last times I reconstructed it after a cleaning and my battery was not charging despite being plugged in, never had I any issues from my charger before this, currently I’m downloading an update like you said but I’m not so sure that will be the solution, I’m a bit lost on what to do /edit: when I remove and plug back in my charger it makes the noise indicating its plugged, not sure if that means anything or not /additional edit, my acer is not the one in your video, its an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G-30TP

@@PC_Monkey Yes, it was working just like normal aside from the new pink light replacing the blue and my battery not receiving charge. however the battery was on 21% when I watched your video and as I got the update and restarted the computer it had shut off, I'm assuming the battery had died, when I plug in the charger there is still no sign of charge, only two times a split second flash of orange on the LED and then goes dark, now no flashes of light. might get it checked out by a tech repair and try to replace whatever needs to be replaced myself, is that a good idea? /edit: my charger cable should be fine by the way, I have a feeling the issue may be the internal cord of the laptop that connects the charging port to the motherboard or the battery cable and its port to the motherboard, perhaps tea got on it or in my half asleep state I was not careful enough unplugging and plugging them back in
