Welcome to WA. My home state. I remember camping in the summer up there snd getting caught in utter monsoons. But it’s also why it’s so lush and green. Full of miss snd ferns snd forests of Queen Anne’s lace. Lol. So good to see you back on trail. Smart to start from the north since you already saw bits of the south. And hopefully the fires will be out by the time you get to Oregon and Nor Cal cuz parts of the PCT are closed in Nor Cal. Tho to warm you it can take six months to clear a fire zone depending on the impact. Longer if it actually burned ON the trail which it looks like it has. I follow PCTers every year. First time following a So Bo hiker. All of you inspire me to section hike parts of it one day. Wishing you nothing but success in your adventures. Thanks for posting.

I’m in awe of you walking so much in Sandals!! How are you avoiding blisters?! Love to know your methods 😀

I sized up the altras and got the wide version. Seems to be helping a lot. Also taping up hot spots and taking shoes and socks off several times a day to dry out!

Sandals are honestly the best shoes when it's super wet, IMO.

Nice trail name. Very nice area. You have to take the bus 🚌 to the boat 🚤 to get there?? 😃😃

The trail goes right to the road and then there is a shuttle!

Do you know if this park at the beginning of the episode still requires a special permit to camp? I arrived later in the night and slept there without permit (as compensation I carried out more trash than I brought in). Think I also need to go to Stehekin next time :-) I did the same as you did to go to the monument, even the new FKT holder had to hike out the same way, since the border to Canada is still closed.

Hikers with a PCT long distance permit no longer need a permit to camp in North Cascades NP, everyone else needs to get a backcountry permit from the park.

PCT hikers can camp, but I believe other backpackers need to snag a permit :)
