I live in Utah and its quite hot here as well. I've found through the years that wide brim hats, keep you cooler than anything else. If you want to take it further being cooler, loose fitting, pure white, long sleeved shirts are a tremendous help as well, but remember, loose fitting is key. Pure white absorbs less heat than colors. I prefer button up shirts. It really helps. Don't be concerened with getting or showing dirt. Everything is dirty out there and everyone knows it. I vote comfort. // As for socks, I've found a thin synthetic dress sock inside wool works great for keeping blisters from forming. The thin dress sock slips inside the wool and keeps moisture away from skin. Glad you're on trail. You'll love it. Yes. Get rid of pack weight where you can.

I found years ago that thin sock liners and thinner wool socks worn in combination saved my feet from ever getting hot spots or blisters. Early to bed and get on the trail early always best practice especially in hot weather. Have fun and enjoy your trip!

I JUST saw a video on the gates, if you lift them up a little they open easier. I had no idea and I’ve seen 100’s of pct videos. Happy hiking!

You're doing amazing. Take care.of.those feet. You might need to air them out more often. Changing the socks mid day. Keep trekking.

17:50. Highly recommend the Senz storm umbrella. I've bought 3 so far, and unless you want to always have two hands busy(forget about trekking poles) do not settle for less.

Nice tip about food storage on the PCT, thx. Would be curious, as you continue on, if small critters tries to chew through your tent to get to your food. Go Debra!

So far we haven’t had any issues with critters. But I’ve heard it can be a problem further north.
