@5:23 Chicken Spring Lake. I did the JMT NOBO (2018) and camped a CPL. Note: There is so much Human Scat around I actually dug up another person's cat hole while trying to use nature's bathroom here. You have been warned! Enjoy!

This is such a beautiful video 😍 a few thoughts: 1. the editing, as ever, is a huge cut above the norm; those interspliced history sections with images and voiceovers are as engaging as a segment in Valley Uprising, documentary level work 2. wait, tell me again: what day did you and moreover Catdog get to KMS? I ask because he's wearing a pale Vapor Apparel sun hoodie, it's a lesser-known brand, but I wore one like that in the desert and then hikerboxed it at KMS because I had other clothes there and it was filthy with packstains, heard from a buddy that some guy fished the grubby hoodie out of the hikerbox right after I put it in and was stoked on his find, and I always wondered who had it. could be the same one if he was there May 25th? 3. omg!!! Spiderman and Lucky Thumb Whitney summit proposal!! I leapfrogged with them all the way from the desert through Washington, but I didn't even know this happened, they played it close to the vest, haha. how beautiful!! so sweet and cool. 4. yaaassss Eastside Guesthouse, such a great place

Thank you for the kind words, as ever :) so... this is pretty wild... but I'm 99% sure that IS your old sun hoody on CatDog. We got to KMS on 5/24, I remember sitting with you at a table there. He was jealous of White Puma and my gray sun hoodies... then he appeared in one and was like... it's Womens but it fits me great! So all the details track, you now know who inherited it haha. Yes, I also leapfrogged with Spiderman + Lucky Thumb (thanks for the name reminders) the entire trail. What a moment up there. Ohh... and speaking of swapping out gray sun hoodies... you'll see I made a similar decision in Episode 6.

Is Mt Whitney part of the PCT or just a side adventure?

It's a side adventure, 16 mile round trip detour. A lot of PCTr's do it since you're right there and in some of the best hiking shape you'll ever be in. I almost didn't do it but was then glad that I made the side quest.
