That was a birthday to remember for always. 2 Passes that day? So much less snow than when Restless Kiwi went through the Sierra only a few weeks earlier and even the rivers seem to have dropped for you. Then the weather to this point. Simply beautiful. Your shots of Mather Pass remind me of historic photos of the gold miners climbing the Chilkoot Trail. Thank you.

4:30 I have wondered too why they don't put bridges over all the water crossings. I guess they don't want to mess up the views. But the benefits would seem to outweigh the negatives. They should be able to come up with something that looks natural, and blends in with the natural environment.

Loved this episode. I did the JMT in 2016 and I too had issues on Mather! It was the one part of the trail I had an emotional cry fest. Halfway up the mountain (going sobo). There is something about Mather. I have heard from many people of the ways they struggled on that peak In many different ways, despite it not being the “highest” or “hardest” pass. It has roughed many peoples up. It’s special. Loved it.

Isn't California the most beautiful place? I've lived here all my life and I never get tired of it. I suppose this footage is from Summer 2019. I'm sure Oregon and Washington will be gorgeous too. I'm getting ready to walk the Camino de Santiago in Spain this spring. Your journeys inspire me. Though I'm looking for a spiritual connection...not religious. Brittany Porter Try looking up "Bite Valve Tube Nozzle" on Amazon. You should find something similar.
@TheBitPoet5 жыл бұрын
The "original" water bottle drinking tube is the "Source Convertube" (the screw-on part in the vid looks quite similar), but there are different makes by now. Amazon in Germany lists SmarTube and a model made by Hamkaw for example. All come with longer tubes (for tall bottles and placing them inside the pack) and different adapter rings so you can fit them on wider bottles too. The tubes can easily be cut to the desired length.

I don't understand why Bear Vault doesn't add a small fixed attachment point to the lid or something. So you can tie a bit of paracord to a carabiner and clip in on. I friggin hate the BV500. It should be abolished forever.

That would make it so much easier to secure! If only...

What kind of bear can do you use? Did you consider using a bear sack like Ursack? Or are those not allowed along the PCT?
