Mid February Sage and Tyler return to Snyder Texas to bring the 1947 Silversides home but things don't turn out as planned.

I used to work for the Detroit Diesel distributor at Wichita Falls, Since the engine has a 4 valve head it obviously replaced the original engine. They may have bought a used truck engine at a junkyard, that would explain why it has N70 injectors, also if it had originally been in an International truck it would have been red, not Alpine green. That engine was probably put in that bus long after Greyhound had owned it.

The greater the challenge , the bigger the reward . Pull the motor out and rebuild it , be nice to keep its original motor is at all possible .

these buses are not likely to have their original motors in them. They usually have millions of miles on them. They come in with a wore out motor, get a rebuilt one swapped in, and back on the road

Tyler- if you get a Jeep, never get a new one; they depreciate wicked. With a lightly used you save that initial hit.

My G/F has a ‘08 RAV4 with the V6, only 250 k trouble Free miles. The only thing wrong with it is the dome light bulb burned out and the front struts are worn out. If I were you I’d get a ‘07-‘12 Rav 4 with the V6, make sure it was made in Japan and not Canada. $8-12k depending on mileage but they will hold their value if you sell it in 3 years. Plus a few scratches / Dents won’t hurt its resale as if it were a new Jeep.

Dale olson - surprisingly not on hers. We are way up in NY, there is no signs of rust with the exception of her steel rims and an occasional bolt/ nut under the frame. My ‘12 GMC is rusted far worse and that has 40k miles.

I heard your comment on your squareback and the repairs. Can you advise more about it? I have a 71 that has rust. We are replacing the body panels, etc to fix the rust.

Well, I've been watching the whole adventure of the Snyder, Texas bus and it is very depressing to find out that the engine is going to have to be replaced. That is a bummer in anybodys book. I live in Brownwood, Texas which is about 250 miles from Snyder. I know you are tired of making those 1600 mile trips and it looks like you may have to make two or three more to get your engine swapped out. I have been thinking about getting a silverside to make me an RV out of but really don't have the budget for it, however, if you decided you had rather sell your bus instead of traveling back and fourth and replacing the engine, I might be interested in buying it since it is located close to me and if you could take a small hit on your investment we might could work out a deal. The Sage , I guess I misunderstood, I thought this was the one that had water in the blower, used a gallon of oil on a three mile test drive and had a block that greyhound had painted red indicating that it could not be overhauled again. Guess I got your bus mixed up with another one. Sorry.
