I was a teenager in the 70s. At high school we all swapped our LP records with each other. Everyone had different records by different artists, so we ALL got a good sampling and grounding in 70s Rock. We had a 40 year reunion in 2017 and I flew to South Africa from New Zealand to attend. I kept on walking around the room talking to different guys and listing the records they had and we swapped. There was lots of laughter and memories and was one of the best nights of my life. The 70s is truly the greatest era for Rock music.

I'm willing to bet since this brilliant and iconic song was released all those years ago, there's been many babies around the world made to Paul Rodgers' legendary vocals. Bad Co. were an outstanding rock band from the UK with many fabulous hits. One of the main contributors to the 'progressive' rock era.

Studio versions are what they meant for the listeners to hear. They are perfectly engineered. Reactors need to listen to the studio’s one first for the fullest appreciation. Live versions are adapted; sometimes too way off, just to be different from the original.

The lead singer of Bad Company, Paul Rodgers has been said to have one of THE best voices in Rock! This band is fantastic! This is a deep rabbit hole you could go down. They have sooooo many great songs! Ready for Love, Movin On, Rock N Roll Fantasy, Shooting Star, Bad Company and many more!!!! Im do glad i got to see these guys in concert many years ago!!! Maybe one of the other songs will hit that PDC mark for you. Maybe the actual song Bad Company!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤

As a Bad Company fan since the 70s, the studio version IS iconic and studio cuts should always be listened to first.... BUT I don't agree with all the comments saying the studio version is "so much better". This live version is outstanding. I *really* dig Paul's vocal treatment/embellishments on this one (better than studio), and the band is on point.

"Shooting Star" & title song "Bad Company" next please. 😉 They def mix mellow, genuine, sensual affection with bursts of grind. 🌷 Love this group. ❤ (Def people of this day & age today has been so exposed & desensitized to such a degree that many ppl just gotta have it really rough, raunchy & wild to get where they wanna go.) Back then - so many things & events had not happened yet. But you're right, Britt, no matter what era, "diff strokes for diff folks" will always be the case.

Yes...studio version much better (Paul Rodgers one of the most iconic singers in history). Imagine being a senior in high school in 1975 when this song came out. Young, in love, free and hor nee. Soooo many choices in music we had in the 70's. Bad Company, Captain and Tenille, Barry White, Earth, Wind and Fire, Bee Gees, Elton John, Wings, Jethro Tull, Gladys Knight and the Pips and on and on. I challenge you to take a look at the Top 100 songs of 1975 and take note of how many different styles and genres of music there was to choose from. Music that is still being listened to today. The best music ever made IMO. 🙃

I don't want to embarrass anyone, especially Britt... but... The song is performed with the tempo of a "session of making love"... Starts out soft and tender. Then it quickly goes for a few "tender" spots... Slows back down... to tease a little. Both people know what's gonna happen, but by slowing down, it makes each touch "more special"... Then it ends...

I'm with you 100%. There were a good few of these commercialy successful rock anthems that were just to consciously sytriving to be PDC even before it was a thing. The music is good, great even, Toto, Journey, U2 even and some that became a bit nearer the mark, Guns and Roses, AC/DC etc. They had some GREAT tracks but for the most part it was just GOOD MUSIC - but it doesn't make your toes curl. Dire Straits is another, some epic music, but just too 'refined', too contrived. Give me a decent ZEp track, or even Supertramp, where the music takes over and it becomes more than just a clever, if pretty, ditty with a couple of memorable climaxes (if you'll pardon the word). These tracks (mid-70's I thnk) were the point at which 'heavy rock' started to build a commercial viability and undergorund became mainstream, and the music just lost its edge. Great track, a real classic. but nmot raw enough for me. Try Leona Lewis 'The First Time ever I sw your face' - live at the Diva show. Not rock, just exquisite! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnaqd6iOfK2Amrs

I think sometimes (I know you’ve heard this before) the live versions do not give the songs justice at all. Paul Rodgers is one of THE BEST voices of rock. He actually sang lead with Queen after Freddy passed away. Bad Company is one of the best, this live performance was not a good representation of their work. But, I get what you’re saying. I think it’s the lyrics more than the delivery with this one ( for PDC qualification)
