Be aware: No native (not even basic iCloud) sync between macOS and iOS is an absolute no-go. The syncing service they announced will probably be a pricey subscription, target to some of their interviewed target user groups (acc. to their website), such as architects, engineers, lawyers. Students, scholars and other researchers will be faced with a potentially pricey subscription to get the crucial feature.

While I no longer use LiquidText, the border is something I was definitely missing. Having to look at the slightly different coloured pages to try to see where one ends and another begins was a terrible inconvenience. P.S.: Reason for not using it anymore is the slow response times and occasional crashes. Same goes for margin note and friends. I use onenote instead with infinite canvas.

i guess this simple tip might help you in 4:40 you can use 'books' app (that offered by Apple, orange color) to convert the multiple images to pdf detail : multiple select in "Photos" → share → "Books" and you can just simply import that converted pdf to liquid text, but still, I agree that the multiple select is needed, that's not that difficult issue to improve for developer, (i guess) and i love your video it really helped me thank you ^^ iam from Korea too^^

Still firmly in the Marginnote camp myself but I do appreciate seeing other approaches. LiquidText is very interesting and might well provide a different perspective for certain classes of problem but they would have to solve their performance problems and provide automatic backup to get me to give it a try.

Many thanks for this review. I just bought the Windows version, and it seems to allow to view more than 3 documents at once. It's quite fast on my Surface Pro 7, but I experienced the similar crashes when searching. Also, it seems to eat CPU while idling. I agree with you that there should be an option for the toolbar to be at the bottom again. The devs seem to be very responsive to feedback on Twitter. I'm currently a Windows OneNote user, and LiquidText is the first app that makes me consider switching.

To maximise on its infinite canvas, we write in all directions. We haven’t figured how to export individual pages because it’s a bit complicated. But, we’ll look into it… perhaps you could be our motivation to finally crack that one

Not sure if this is still relevant here. I have tried the possibilities of exporting. I find the best way is to write is c1r1 c1r2…c1rn and then c2r1 c2r2…c2rn. While exporting use the option of Match pages to workspace background pattern. It should keep the order of notes intact. Hope this helps someone.

Hi Ropsie. Great video! I was wondering what you think about the size of the exported PDF. I tried Marginnotes and was dissapointed when I found out that a 10MB PDf was exported as a 300MB one (even though i just highlighted one sentence). Does this happen with LiquidText? I know that Flexcil does not have this issue, but it is difficult to have an idea of how LiquidText works because they do not have a trial period!! I also was wondering if you can add numbers to the notebook

LiquidText does create massive files but I doubt it is that dramatic. I generally don't export out of LiquidText, but I will do some investigations on that... you mean page numbers? Automatically right? You can't do that in LT

As you said, note-taking app (GoodNotes, Notability, NoteShelf) and pdf reader-manager (PDF element, PDF Expert, liquidtext) are getting closer and closer (I don't know where to put Nebo for instance), so for studying needs do you think it is better to take one of those to do both (note taking & pdf annotation) or it is better to take two (1 for specific for note-taking & 1 for pdf annotation)? In each case, which wuld be your choice? Could be Nebo as lonely app or NoteShelf+Liquid for twin apps? Thank you!

For financial reasons, if you can use one app for PDF reading and note-taking, that’ll be great. My pdf reading is more complex. So I separated the apps. But fir simple pdf reading, one app can certainly do both

Nice Ropsie like always. I made some notes on LiquidText last year, on canvas I used vertical column initially then after reaching end of canvas liquid text took my next page to second column first row. After export crested notes was messy, after page 1 there was not page 2 but directly page 108 (for example). I tried other way around, worked in rows, first row then second and so on, but again, if you've huge document then after export page numbers are randomized. Hope this is fixed in this version. So I left liquid text with Flexcil and its working fine. Any suggestion on how to export canvas notes or how to write on canvas, vertically or horizontally? Thanks...

Exporting in LT is a massive pain, and there seems to be no right way to export anything out. Which is frustrating! I will look export options and how best to use if if you want export notes out.

Hello Paperless X, i am a liquidtext(pro version) user on Windows Platform. Don't know about the ipad version of this app, but my app has no option to "Import image, and then paste the image in an existing open pdf file" which is kind of a bummer for me. Everything is fine except this, already being poor in app choices for windows OS touchscreen devices , i dont ask for handwriting recognition/searchability, but the the option to import an image and paste it into the existing open pdf file is basic and not available on windows platform yet :( . Hope they add it in the future for windows version of the app

Can Ropsie, or any other users, reliably select text in the right-hand column when using PDF sources that feature 2 columns of text? I cannot - occasionally it works, but more often the app jumps to select much larger blocks of text, and also a lot of content from the left column though my finger/Pencil has not gone anywhere near this extraneous text. It makes the application almost useless for me, as most of my textbooks and scientific documents contain 2 columns of text. You can do a rectangular or free-shape selection of text as an image, but canNOT highlight precise passages or excerpt them to the canvas as text. There is no problem with the PDF files - they work fine in MarginNote, PDF Expert, Notability, etc. It does not affect all 2-column sources, but many/most of them, which makes LiquidText unusable for me. Sadly I did not discover this problem until I had purchased it for both iPad and the Mac.

I have successfully selected the right-hand column only. If you say sometimes it does work, I am assuming the app has a bug that hopefully the developers can fix for you, soon. I didn’t have a problem when I long-pressed with my finger and then extended the selection to select more text (downwards)

Good application but native handwriting support missing means a huge trade -off just to annotate or link pasted snippet. when search cant find handwritten or universal tag not good enough when its just there for sake. a lot to be improved upon. Still not a universal app for all in one. one cant keep buying many apps as each lacks a feature. But to an extend pdf and handwriting are two different side and merging them would take a leap .

thx for the video, thats the one they should have made ... well it seams to me its less buggy than before, back then it was horrible - i started to leave a document all the time to avoid loosing annotations. atm i havent worked with big files and cant tell if its crashing as before. i miss the full colored annotations (only the arrow is), this makes it less clear. the connections between annotations are also white ... no difference, again less clear for reading. they convert the old files automatically and it turned some pages upside down- including the links ... i dont like the new ui, as often in recent years, everything is so faint, no clear contrast. i give a shit about a fancy looking ui, i have to work with it and therefore pronounced coloring is what helps. and then the missing metric paper sheets (A4 etc), where do the developers live? and still no automatic backup in 2020. i wrote them that i not happy with the new version and reported the problems - no answer till today. i will work with the app on small projects i dont care if i loose them. maybe they improve it or i change to marginnote for good

Timely review! Good job! I personally had to request a refund as this app fails to load documents (pdf, pptx, docx) which were created / transferred from the onedrive or outlook app. One of the reasons we found is that my iPad has a corporate profile, so it limits the access for files arriving from the working environment. Thus I can’t really work with these constrains. The only option is to copy documents to icloud from PC and then open on iPad. But it’s not very convenient since I usually need a random access + most of my files are coming from the corp environment. Even Print to Pdf doesn’t change anything. Ah :(

Something i have noticed, there is no free pdf file opener with good pencil support, also the default pdf reader built in the files app doesn’t support outlines/bookmarks. Most pdf readers make a separate copy of the file and open that instead of the original. Please find something if possible a pdf reader that supports pencil and also pdf utilities like outlines etc, but can actually open an pdf rather than making a copy.

I used it but now I hate it. If you use just one device, it might be OK. But if you use MacOS as well as iOS, you need to pay twice, to get LiquidText Pro and LiquidText Enterprise. And it supports synchronization very poorly though they promised updates for synchronization functionalities on their twitter.

I was waiting for long time for this update to be released and I was so disappointed.. they have great ideas , but unfortunately they did it with bad execution ... handwriting is really bad , highlighter on the notes side is horrible ( no matter how many times I complained , it seems they don’t listen to customers ) .. the major issue is that I feel note are so fragile !! Meaning one wrong figure touch and you mess up your work ! I lost many notes simply from note unintended movements or removals ! Also, being not able to search and find your handwritten notes isn’t pleasant... I simply stopped using this app and I’m using the alternative ... not going to wait for version 5 or 6 in 2029!!! Thank you for the revision :) I hope they listen to customer’s feedbacks from your platform in this channel 👍
