Every year around Christmas since 2011 I have been playing Skyrim. It makes me feel wintery and festive. Jeremy Soule is a large part of that feeling.

My wife let me put “ the city gates “ at our wedding on Feb 17th this year. We piped it in as people sat. We got married at Castle Mculloch in NC. Couldn’t have had a more fitting venue with the music. I forever now when I hear this song I think of our wedding day. She is a legend for letting me have that song in our wedding music. @@JenkTank64In Fallout 4, Diamond City puts up lights on Dec. 25th, and Halloween decorations for Oct 31st, etc. I think something for valentines too? Can't remember. But it was a really nice touch. Of course there's no Christmas in TES because there is no Christianity, but I would've enjoyed seeing some holidays and proof of time/dates passing. Would make the world feel more alive.

For some reason the song Streets of Whiterun has always made me think of the time when it's to draw your last breath and leave this world, and with it suddenly a new world emerges before your eyes, infinite, open and new. I have no idea why but the song has always struck me as one of saying goodbyes, letting go, and release with a tinge of grief and longing. I became a game soundtrack fan in the late 80s and early 90s when I was a young girl, and to this day at the age of 45 I still mostly listen to game osts when I commute to work and back. They are hard to rank, but Skyrim is by far the most atmospherical and beautiful soundtrack for me and even after all these years it still produces extremely vivid images in my mind, like scenes from an untold story - especially the song Masser which I absolutely adore. I'm so glad there are people who share the appreciation for Skyrim, it truly is a masterpiece in so many ways.

I'm finishing Red dead 2 again...and again I will fall into the loop with Skyrim..It will be 2 weeks of camping and hunting (live another life mod,not vanilla Helgen)..and small sidequests..with lore friendly mods..before even thinking about main questline...a fine way to spend december 🤗🤗

Though I'd mark Skyrim as the beginning of the end of Bethesda making role-playing games with actual RP elements... playing Skyrim for the first time at midnight(ish) on 11/11/11 was an experience I'll never forget. It's actually the Morrowind theme,written by Jeremy Soule. They beafed it up for Skyrim. The original is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
