You also have to mention that the gorilla spoke before it was killed confirming that if the butterflies take over a body that has the appropriate vocal cores, primates, k-9s, and birds, that they could talk to you.

I think they did it the way they did because they wanted to viewer to be unsure of his morality and motives. Like they wanted you to question if he was sending the team into a trap or if he was actually trying to do good by them. I think it would have been better the other way, but just speculation on why they revealed it the way they did

I was also thinking about the thing about Eagly and the Goff butterfly. One thing I also noticed that all butterflies were eliminated by blowing up the head or blowing them to smithereens. Who knows, the gorilla may still be revived because it's head is still intact.

we see famous and rich people being butterfly, but rather that the butterfly "infiltrating the elite" I think they are improving people. Murn is described multiple times as being a terrible person who mysteriously changed. I think he only developped emotions and empathy when the butterfly got in his brain.

I think a butterfly will try and infect vigilant but it won't work due to his brain chemistry being messed up.

On the flip side, we could see Vigilante start talking about treating criminals differently because a butterfly controlling him makes him more empathetic to people. Peacemaker is aware that Vig is not all right in the head. Vig even said it himself he doesn't have normal emotions being a late bloomer. I wouldn't be surprised if there is another scene similar to "sniping the family" where Vigilante isn't so cavalier about killing the target and Peacemaker picks up on his change of attitude and has to take out Vigilanet.
