@@k-master973 That's true however I think he may be a little more liberated working on DC projects like this simply because it's R-rated so he wouldn't be limited by the age restrictions of the jokes and contents. However now Disney will soon have R-rated films in the MCU, too (with Deadpool and the recently announced season 4 of Daredevil with Charlie Cox) I really hope he could make an R-rated show with the GoG characters.

@@ethanlopez160 I don't think that's the case. Before he made this show, James Gunn made the Guardians of the Galaxy movies first, which is a part of Marvel Cinematic Universe. And in those movies, he did the same thing he does here: embracing the goofiness of the source material (he literally made outlandish characters like Groot and Rocket work). And there's also Taika Waititi, who directed Thor Ragnarok (and later Love and Thunder) and pull off the same thing James Gunn did. So I don't think Marvel just pointed out the goofiness, laugh it out and then leave it at that. They literally had Wakanda (an impossibly advanced tech city in Africa), TVA (a time cop organization) and other outlandish stuff, yet they don't play it off as a joke.

Yes, it's not like the superhero movies of the 2000s where they try to be as grounded and serious as possible like the X-men movies where they even make fun of the idea of wearing their comic book costumes although the X-Men characters did end up wearing them at the end of X-Men Apocalypse. The Dark Knight trilogy, the first Iron Man movie and the Incredible Hulk movie were pretty grounded as well.

The first Guardians Of The Galaxy and GOTG 2. Peter , in GOTG dancing and "singing" while kicking a lizards and using them as microphones and in GOTG 2,baby Groot dancing in the foreground while the other Guardians are battling it out, out of focus, in the background...but this is a group choreography so different but similar.

I think the special spice that makes the intro work so well, (besides obviously the choreography, the song and everthing else that makes it awesome) is the fact that all of the characters have super stowic, blank expressions the entire time. They're doing this ridiculous, crazy dance routine, but their faces all look like they're listening to the national anthem.
