PEAK BAGGING IN CENTRAL IDAHO: HIKING AND SUMMITING GALENA PEAK OFF OF IDAHO'S SAWTOOTH SCENIC BYWAY

Rugged mountain peaks are the star of the show while driving the Sawtooth Scenic Byway and this includes Galena Peak in Idaho's Boulder Mountain Range. Galena Peak is Idaho’s 94th-highest peak and is one of the most popular ascents in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area. If you are staying at or near Galena Lodge be sure to scramble up to Galena Peak. The approach to the Galena summit is short but steep and is a great way to spend half a day in the Sawtooth National Forest. The views that this relatively short summit offers are outstanding. If traveling from the Ketchum and Sun Valley area to Stanley and the Sawtooth Mountain Range be sure to stop and pound out this non-technical summit. Unlike most other Boulder Mountain Range peaks, Galena Peak does not require an incredibly tough car to access it. @Alltrails has this short but sweet summit route in the app.
