Nice one Chris, great video as always and agree with the others comments inspiring us to get off our arse and get out there... I always take ear plugs now when I camp, regardless of the weather, my mate sounds like a chainsaw when he snores so I've learnt the hard way. Looking forward to the next wild camp!

@@MCMOutdoors I have just bought my second Hilleberg, I have an Anjan for the summer and just bought the Soulo for my winter camping as I need a bombproof one for where i camp on Dartmoor and Brecon. I camp for a living now so hence need solid kit that will last, otherwise happy to camp in Vango Mirage's (my favourite) and cook on a trangia or a jetboil.

MCM Outdoor Show no problem fella. Fellow Scouser Immigrated to Macc area couple years back love being so close to peak. Been into forest with my 6yr old with hammocks and twig stove a couple of times for a day camp and found a nice spot, she loves it. Need to do a proper rec and find an out the way spot but the forest is massive and in parts spooky as fcuk! Keep them adventures coming

Hahaha, sorry bro but I recognise your experience. My first 7 days in the Soulo was stormy and rainy. From the looks of it I had quite a bit more wind than what you are experiencing here. First night I was so insanely tired but just couldn't sleep because of the wind and noise. Went up and to check that the lines were all secured and good, they always are! Never slackened or anything. Second night I had put some rubber bands and tape on the lite zipper handles to stop them jingly janglin like a christmas sled. This is a good trick that worked wonders! I also put in some foam earplugs and after that I always slept like a log in there. I've now done over 50 nights in the Soulo. The longest stay was just over three weeks. Most of that time in really heavy winds and rain. Never had a problem. I now know that the Soulo will stand for some serious weather so I sleep with confidence :) Good vid. Thanks!

Thanks mate - also top tip re the rubber bands. I'll be sure to pass that one on in our FB group 👍

Hi Chris. I went back and looked for this video, following your recent tales from the tent when you talked about your scary experience. I assume this was the camp you were referring to. Must have really freaked you out as you didn’t go into specifics at the time, just a brief voice over at 2.40am saying how scary it was outside the tent😊

The unplanned ones are always good Chris..Noticed you are using the supplied DAC pegs on the Guy lines.. 90 times out of 100 . They will do the job. However for elevated pitches in possible high winds. The Delta ground anchors are mustard. and peace of mind if it gets mental during the night.. Stay safe Bro. Very enjoyable viewing as always ..

For me, the HB Soulo is by far the best all around year 1er tent on the market. Especially in very high wind conditions. I bought 4 of it in the last 11 years. Only in deep very could Winter it could become a bit narrow for my taste ( with a fat -30 C Sleepingbag the Nammatj 2 or Jannu is the better choice) !

Alright mate. Fantastic video.. really enjoyed listening to your views on getting out there and sampling the great outdoors. Can i ask for some advise regarding the hilleberg soulo.. in your opinion, do you think the tent is worth paying around £600 for? Im after a good tent, but unsure about coughing up this sort of money. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers Gary

Alright Gary.... Thanks mate. Yes I'd say so..... As long as you will get proper use out of it. I've been camping etc since age of 14 and have lost count of the amount of tents I've had. I can honestly say that the quality and strength of the Hilleberg is in a league of its own..... Take the plunge 👍

Is the normal Hileberg Soulo strong enough for the UK or do I need black or red label?.
@MCMOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, the normal Soulo is the "red label" and is more than sufficient for the majority of UK conditions. The black label has stronger fabric and slightly thicker poles - so can handle even more extreme weather but with a weight penalty over the red label. Hope this helps 👍

@gordonmonaghan1337 жыл бұрын
It's ironic, that you were camping in what is probably acknowledged as one of the best tents resilient to wind resistance, and still found the experience sleep disturbing. I understand your reaction however.Inside a tent, in such conditions, is like sleeping in an amplified sound box. It is more reassuring camping out in a light to moderate rain (with little wind) than in the conditions that prevailed that night. But, we put such nights down to experience, and don't let it put us off planning our next excursion. (I hope)
