Great video the weather was wild I have always wanted to wild camp in a tent in the rain but at the ripe old age of 52 I think I would be all aches and pains sleeping in a tent overnight 😁the noises of the wild weather would help you sleep thank you for sharing

On Friday I decided against the Lakes because of thunderstorms and I drove passed this spot on the way to the Dales. I love being out in rough weather, it did me the world of good. I agree with all our comments on why you do it.

Top film Chris, you're always educating. Thunderstorms? Never seek shelter under exposed rock overhangs. That 🌩 goes straight through. Love your content Chris ❤

Absolutely - 'thru-hikers' and people doing long distance trails can't avoid storms sometimes, so it's always good to know how best to deal with them. It's not great to be in a tent, anywhere exposed with lightning - and contrary to what people may think, can be safer heading below the tree line into a dense forest. I didn't want to risk being on an exposed ridge with the amount of storms which were passing through the south Lake District.

Top video mate. Love this hill. Did my first solo wildcamp here blessed to be within a 30minute drive from it. On a clear day the views are beautiful looking to the 3 peaks. I will be out one day this week up here so hopefully this pitch is free, I've looked a bit further up and there is a few spots but nothing beats this spot for flatness. The only youtuber I know who makes badweather camping look soso relaxing👍

I was camping on the Norfolk coast in the storms last week end ,luckily my tent survived with only a slightly slightly bent pole,others weren't so lucky and their tents got shredded 😢 ,I've got a tent with interior bracing straps (never had a tent with these before,it's a vsngo ),they seemed to help

bad weather is the best to camp in (rain/wind/snow) plus less people if any to contend with (i'm not anti-social) but camping in that kind of weather is best without having party people around or people screaming, it's bad out what do we do, go ask the guy/person next to us. meaning you/me. watching/listening to the weather can't be beat. sleep like a baby. plus food taste so much better in storms (rain or snow) just me i guess.

Nice one Craig. The BL has stronger materials - 10mm poles vs 9mm on the red. 18KG tear strength fabric vs 12KG on the red and thicker floor / inner fabrics....... in short, the red label is more than enough - but I just fancied selling some older gear to fund an even stronger version!

Worst I've been in was Easter Sunday , 20-25 mph gusts and exposed on a summit . (Vid on my channel). The macpac stood up excellently , but nothing compared to what you've been in.

For such weather, a two-person, two-layer expedition tent by Hilleberg Staika would be more suitable!!! Unfortunately, this tent does not have a skirt and the wind can blow into it from below!!! In such weather, a skirt would not be superfluous!! But this tent weighs 4 kg!!!

? The Staika doesn't have a skirt - it's exactly the same as the Soulo - which is a double skin tent. Both tents are black label (ie 4 season) and both tents are made by Hilleberg. The Staika weighs 4kg, the BL Soulo is 2.8kg. I'm not sure I understand your point?
