This game went to “Space Resident evil” to space “silent hill” and then went to “Cosmic horror” and came back to “Space silent hill mix with cosmic horror” This was really good

Can we talk about the fact that QR codes are treated as ancient glyphs in this game. I found that pretty funny. It's good to know that even though the game takes itself seriously, the developers still had a bit of fun adding a few jokes.

I edited the comment to say developers instead of developer to acknowledge that more than one person worked on this game since they deserve it, but I realize I could have just made a reply... Oh Well 😋

SIGNALIS is my game of the decade so far. I could analyse and theorise and interpret this story for days on end and I'd never come close to getting tired of thinking about it. Thank you for playing through this beautifully brutal work of art.

I am at a loss for words. This game is so beautiful. It took inspiration from classical literature, music and the best parts of survival horror games and made it work. But in the end it stayed its own thing. Absolutely beautiful experience, one of the best games I've ever seen, definitely will buy it for myself. Thank you for introducing us to this game Phil, I had a blast!

I decided on SIGNALIS as MY FIRST EVER SURVIVAL HORROR GAME. I can't really afford RE games, and MFN is a game I'd already seen, so SIGNALIS was the clear choice. In my first play session... I'm not gonna beat around the bush. I was _frustrated._ While running out of ammo is a core part of the genre, having no defense against enemies made me feel more "annoyed" than anything, as running away from enemies isn't my favorite thing in the world. I was still for the most part enjoying the game - the whole "escape room" aspect was really fun, and I was very invested in the lore and worldbuilding. And when I _did_ have ammo, the combat was very enjoyable. However clearly, the game, and probably the whole genre, wasn't working out for me. But on my second play session I did something I've never done in a game before. I let go of my ego, got rid of my sense of "I can have fun, I just need to get good!" and went on Casual mode. And then everything clicked. Rather than constantly being out of ammo, the main issue was that I only ever had ammo for specific guns of mine. And then the puzzle became which guns to take where, having to take all my different ammo into account. After that change I had a _BLAST!_ I did not want to stop playing the game for a second, every single new room entered filled me with joy, no matter how many enemies in the room previously would've made me go "oh boy can't wait to lose my remaining 7 ammo". I kept going and going and beat the entire rest of game in one sitting. I was disappointed by the lack of a final boss and the ending in general, but hey, it was still a real fun time! So yeah. What I learned was that I actually _adore_ survival horror games... _buuuuuuuut_ only if I play on easy mode lol Then I decided the next day "hey, you know what, maybe there's multiple endings! Lemme look up how to-" and then I saw "fake ending". God damn it. I mean, I was glad there was more, but very annoyed the game didn't really have an indication of this (yeah the menu changed, but plenty of games menus change when you beat them). So then I _actually_ beat the game in one sitting. And the ending and final boss were both absolutely top tier gaming experiences. I could go on about how much I love the storytelling in this game, but I just beat it tonight and I need to formulate my thoughts before I start writing any lore essays lol I just want to thank you for introducing both this game and this entire genre to me. Even if I have to play on easy mode because idk I guess I'm a baby or something. Honestly I'm so obsessed with this game that I think I'm gonna replay the game tomorrow and go for the secret ending. The secret ending guide I looked up seemed really long but I assume it's not that bad. I'll definitely be checking out more survival horror games in the future!
@OsnosisBones8 ай бұрын
Regrettably that might be the main thing they expected you to do since most survival horror tries to incentivize only fighting if you absolutely have to, and this one takes that even further by having a mechanic similar to RE1 where if you don't have a specific finite item on hand when you kill an enemy they'll get right back up again even if you kill them. Though I get the frustration of not having even a really subpar means of ammo-les combar, since the melee items, similar to some other survival horror, are also a finite resource
@juggftw48686 ай бұрын
Yeah unfortunately that’s a pretty common theme in survival horror, combat is optional and you’re really only meant to fight as a last resort so ammo is scarce, and finding better ways to run past enemies is faster and safer, though the last half of this game gives you enough ammo to just kill everything if you played the first half conservatively
@Sylvia_Corvidev6 ай бұрын
@@juggftw4868 Hey actually, this is perfect timing, I have a question: a friend has offered to lend me their Playstation and their copy of Resident Evil Village for a bit; is ammo as big of a worry in that game? Should I play at a lower difficulty like I did with SIGNALIS to make up for my fatal "must shoot everything" syndrome, or nah?

SPOILERS. God. My favorite apart about this game has to be how your story interpretation is so tied to who you are. Though there maybe is a way all rhings come together in a structual story, depending on what you focus on you get a entire different idea. People who know about The King in Yellow would notice the absolute eldritch and cosmic nature of the game in deeper detail, people with good memory and keen eyes will notice how the rooms repeat in a way and the cyclic nature (The best example is how in the normal ending, you stay in the same position the corpse which you took the armor from was). This story and game is, was, and has become a wonderful thing whcih honestly makes me feel inspired knowing only two people made it.

Fun fact about the butterfly room in Rotfront, the butterflies on the board have the answer. The board itaelf has "pareidolia" written on it, which is the tendency to see meaningful pictures on random things i.e. the shapes on the butterdly wings look like letters and thats the answer.

Just wanted to let you know that there are no achievements related to any of the endings, even the secret one. I think this game is meant to really just be played once, as the endings are also dictated by your playstyle, and the game keeps track of a lot of small things. The ending you get is kind of just on you. And even then, the secret ending could also not really be the best ending depending on how you look at it. Point is, as great as this game is, it feels like the game doesnt really want you to play it again, which would also fit in with the theme of stopping the loop.
