I think there's a lot of here say about the Kove 800 models - are the weight figures accurate?, is it Euro 5 and 5+ compliant?, and most of all, are the engines different to the KTM ones that are now synonymous for the cam wear issue? I think if you get a chance to speak with a Kove employee at the show to clear up these issues, that would be great.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
My apologies, I'm already back at the hotel and only saw this just now. It's open to the public from tomorrow and filming is pretty much impossible, so I'll be at the hotel for the next two days editing and replying to comments. If they are at Motorcycle Live in a couple of weeks I'll ask then.
@peakrider4886Ай бұрын
@ I’ll be going along to the NEC too. Looking forward to seeing some of these bikes in the flesh. I spoke with a dealer who I’m not sure if they are official Kove stockists, but they do have the 450 Rally there, regarding the 800, and he told me they won’t be getting it because it won’t pass the emissions test. I thought it a bit odd, and wondered if he might have been trying to put me off and look at Voge instead as he had loads of those available.

Quite a few manufacturers are offering tubeless now (videos to follow). The Kove 800X Rally still has tubes though.
@lugholeАй бұрын
@@silverdale3207 on an adventure bike? I suppose we don't all go off-road ...
@silverdale3207Ай бұрын
@@lughole true, but isn't that what road bikes are for, the designers would assume an adventure bike will be taken off road and equip it for that. I'm assuming that's why Kove have removed the tubeless rims on the new 800 rally. If people want to just do road and light gravel there are far better options than adventure bikes,
@constantinosschinas4503Ай бұрын
I would expect the 800X Rally to have an enduro like flat seat and rear fuel tank or low front side tanks, much like a buffed Kove 450 Rally. That would be a fantastic bike, wonder why they did not consider it.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
It might be the fuel tank costs. To get the moulds/forms is pretty expensive (100k/set?). To have different tanks on the Rally would need an extra set and they'd need to sell a lot to recover. There might not be a business case for that.
@constantinosschinas4503Ай бұрын
@PeakMotorcycles Understandable. For me they should go rear tank in both models. Still bike looks promising, will test ride it soon.

@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
That’ll have to wait for another show I’m afraid. I think it’ll also vary by country. It might be already available so if you can, ask your dealer/distributor/importer.
@constantinosschinas4503Ай бұрын
2:40 It still needs double discs for tarmac use, especially with two passengers. But since it is a rally version, a single brake disc is lighter, safer and easier to use on dirt.

Same. Perhaps they can't make it EU5 (now EU5+) compliant? Though if Kawasaki can do it for the ZX4RR, then there should be a way.

Quick quibble, MCN has the 800X Pro at 196kg. Even tho it's still seriously lightweight for an 800cc ADV (dry weight around 15kg lighter than T7)! You have a Kove long term, do you trust them to build reliable bikes? Ride-by-wire worries me, reliability, ease to fix in out of the way prices, and costs (someone told me a new 890 throttle is 1000 quid - something that's easily smashed on the trail). Cheers for all your vids from Milan - appreciated.

It does. Mind you, there's a few of those out there now. I think the CFMoto 500SR is also a four. I'm sure there's a few more. I'll probably remember them when editing the videos for those stands and I hear myself say it! (I've seen so many bikes in the last two days, they all blur into one a bit...)
@MotoGuzziMotoАй бұрын
The Kove 800 Rally could be a game changer, but they need to address the camshaft wear issue with the engine. The current consensus is that the engine does not provide enough pressure to lubricate the cam surfaces, potentially due to poor oil pump pressure or poor alignment of the oil channels in the head. If the issue is not resolved then the engines are a time bomb and the bikes wont be worth anything in future, like the KTM 890. So, what have Kove done to fix the problem if anything? Until Kove / CF Moto / Husqvarna / KTM come up with a confirmed solution, then no one in their right mind would touch them.
@vgstbАй бұрын
It's not the same engine as the KTM 790, the top end of the engine is different (in fact it's an own development of Kove itself).
@MotoGuzziMotoАй бұрын
@@vgstb This is the second time I will question this statement. Can you show where you got that info or a statement that the issue is fixed? The last guy could not.
@wXGuitarLoverXwАй бұрын
The top end has been completely redone, you can find comparison videos online, there is people in china who has already done 30k km completely issues free, obviously only time will tell as we get more and more data but so far it seems ok 👍
@MotoGuzziMotoАй бұрын
@@wXGuitarLoverXw Can you provide any link or example? I cant find anything that confirms changes in Kove or CF Moto engines from the KTM, or specifically that they have addressed the problem. Those engines look amazing - it would be nice to know weight & hp of each. The 440 4 could be a screamer. Kove is absolutely competitive in the market after just a few years, I'm hoping for a very bright future for the brand.

Too bad their partner here in the Philippines are selling Kove bikes overpriced, CFMoto is killing it here right now. Kove's 500 adv has been reliable here for years now, but I don't think they'll last any longer now that CFMOTO has outgrown them by a mile due to price & feature disparity in their offerings.
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
There’s lots of new bikes in that category too. Good for competition right?
@metalsadmanАй бұрын
@@PeakMotorcyclesYeah but their partner's pricing is not enticing and they really didn't drop their prices, CFMoto is just the better choice around here and they really made a home run on their 450's especially the 450MT i guess all over the globe really where it is sold.

The 800X party trick was always its claimed weight. However, I saw a chap properly weigh one last year when they also claimed its only 176kg or something like that and it tipped the scale at 191kg in the real world. THAT is still very good but not as light as it was claimed. SO, do I believe the figures claimed by KOVE for it 2025 lineup....NO !
@PeakMotorcyclesАй бұрын
Oh. That is a bit disappointing. I haven't weighed one myself, but would be interested in the link to see that if you have it.
@MLeitaoАй бұрын
They claimed that weight for the Rally version, the X it's more heavy, the rally even the subframe it's different
@vgstbАй бұрын
The 191 kg is indeed the verified fueled-up weight for the 800x (standard version), the rally version is not yet commercially available, but it should be somewhere around 10 kg lighter.
@ascuttАй бұрын
As with all manufacturers, Kove list the kerb weight - all fluids needed to ride plus half tank of fuel. My 800X Pro is 185kg fully fuelled with the titanium Rally exhaust and a few mods. This includes the engine bars, rack and mine came with a lead acid battery (this is getting swapped at 1st service on Friday so should shave a couple of kg off)
