Even though the gondola lift was removed it is still possible to reach the area with the existing slopes and come back to the town without using the bus shuttle.

If you're looking for mega resorts like 3 Vallées, in France, La Plagne-Les Arcs Paradiski should offer great diversity and is still quite cheap compared to Switzerland or North America. In this area off-piste is part of the culture and can go from easy to hard. In Italy the Dolomiti Superski pass offers access to countless ski resorts like Cortina where only the aesthethic should get a 10, the biggest spot being Sellaronda area (Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Arabba/Marmolada) with ski-tours, awesome facilities, navigation and Lifts, the downside is the area is becoming very well known, attracts more than France does and crowd-congestion can happen all the time. The prices of facilities have also increased their but still cheaper than everywhere else in Europe especially for the value. Also off-piste is not really tolerated and you need a guide or even a helicopter drop-off for special spots.

You should go to Laax-flims-falera and make a video. Phenomenal shredding. Only had a chance to explore the town of flims and stayed there, the views were incredible. As an American it is interesting to compare how different the views are vs Rockies

Even though the gondola lift was removed in Aminona it is still possible to reach the area with the existing slopes and come back to the town without using the bus shuttle. Aminona belongs to the resort and is fully part of the ski domain of Crans- Montana. As a native of Crans-Montana I confirm that the skiing isn’t the best you can get but it is far from being ridiculous. The attraction occurs in the panorama and in the altitude restaurants. It is a all year around resort with fantastic golf courses, many lakes and great downhill and cross country mountain biking tracks.

@@PeakRankings Val Gardena, what a great spot, I hope it won't be too crowded, Dolomiti Superski is Huge. If you have a chance to go early in the morning to Passo Falzarego and do the Armentarola slope, it's one of my favourite. Also now this area is fully connected to Cortina, the only requirement is to take a shuttle from Armentarola Hotel (where parking is or was 6€ a day) to Falzarego but it's fast and cheap. I also hope March 16 is not too late ... it can get really warm ...

I know I'm asking much but will you ever do a review of Mondolé ski in Italy? It's quite unique and unknown since it's not in the Dolomites but it's in a completely different place in the alps, really close to the mediterranean (and I live close by so I might be biased 😂)

The biggest downside for me, and the reason my most recent ski trips were to Alaska and Japan and not Europe, is that there seems to be a lack of advanced/expert/extreme terrain that is safe to ski and/or sees significant snowfall in the major alps resorts. I'd love to see a review of a more "hardcore" smaller-to-mid sized resort, more comparable to a Kirkwood, Kicking Horse, Snowbird, or Arapahoe Basin. All of which lack raw acreage and often some vertical compared to the European mega resorts, but make up for it in combined snowfall and terrain. I really want to experience the Alps and their mountain culture, but not if there's basically a guarantee I'll ski better snow and spend less on a road trip through the powder highway in BC or an easy trip to Utah. Or you can pretty much count on deeeep powder at a similar cost to a European adventure via a trip to Japan. South America seems in-between with many surface lifts and groomers... but it's a little bit cheaper, a little bit closer to the US, and averages a little more snow. A few of the bigger name resorts have the infrastructure, patrol, and planning to be a summer powder fests when the storms line up. Are there any Alps resorts that DO avy control their off-piste on a large scale? Setup lifts to access said off piste? And beyond that, any of note in the Pyrenees, Scandinavia, or Eastern Europe?

How does one purchase the insurance for ski patrol services? Is this the same with all the Epic partner resorts in Europe?
@PeakRankings
@PeakRankings 5 ай бұрын
You have to go to the ticket window to buy this. If you plan to go off-piste, you need to buy third-party insurance to make sure you are covered.

Pronounced "cran" with a soft "a" like "crawfish" and silent "s"..... "mon - ta - na" - NOT like the state out West. I have been skiing Crans-Montana for decades and this is a solid review with a few rejoinders. 1. parking - C/M is trying to reduce car traffic to make the resort more enjoyable such as Zermatt or Saas Fee (both car-free) - it has added pedestrian zones; reduced street parking; required pay parking at lift areas; and changed traffic flow to reduce speed. There are many lodging options within walking distance of gondolas and free shuttle bus service is comprehensive and frequent. 2. Getting around C/M on the mountain is actually quite easy. It is smaller than some of the other Europena meg-resorts and 90% of the runs are on the front-side of 3 mountains/ski areas (Cry D'err, Violettes; Aminona) 3. Vail ownership will hopefully be a game changer in terms of lift upgrades. 4. It is in the french speaking part of Switzerland but most locals speak french, english, german/swiss-german.

How would u rank them? I’ve been to both
@jeromeredon
@jeromeredon 5 ай бұрын
@@PhilN2K To me Zermatt is way way better than crans Montana in pretty much all dimensions and I Iive in Switzerland.1st the ski experience is incomparable. The ski field, diversity and snow quality in Zermatt is easily close to 80% in my view right there with Courchevel or Tignes if you have a chance to go there one day. I have been there too. Then Crans with a much smaller ski area, 3 times smaller than Zermatt in fact and most of the ski slopes facing south and snow melting quickly would be around 60% in my opinion. Many many National ski teams come to practise in Zermatt there must be a reason! None come to Crans montana. Many other aspects I could develop if you ask such as lifts and so on... Then the after-ski almost does not exist in Crans where in Zermatt plenty of trendy places right down the slopes. That counts too!
