I’m going to post more long form videos at some point, but they take a lot longer than shorts do. All in good time I suppose.

Hahaha when my hen (same or similar kind as peanut is) is broody and i take the eggs and lay them in front of her, she just stares at it while sitting on nothing 😂. She doesnt even try to get them back under her feathers.

It might be quite a project but would setting up a net above the pen keep the ravens away? Or perhaps just a covered section they can wander around
@Josephsflock Жыл бұрын
I’m working on putting up a wire mesh roof now, but how I am doing it is a lot of work and takes a long time, it’s chicken wire and the only rolls that were long enough were only 3 foot wide. . . A net might have worked, but I couldn’t find any that felt strong enough. My isolation compound is nearly finished, and at that point I can safely put all my birds outside in there for the day and not have to worry about ravens. The main run will take a few more months, but should be finished by spring.

This is great info. We had 1 of our 5 girls go broody last year and it wasn't fun at all. We got all kinds of bad info from people. She ended up having to live alone in an adjacent coop because one of the other hens was attacking her😢

Oh, so sorry to hear that. There is a lot of bad information online, and I have received so many good and also so many bad suggestions on my videos with broody birds. The best thing to do with a broody hen is to give them an ice pack wrapped in a cloth bag and that usually breaks their brood in a day or two and they can return to normal.

@@Josephsflock one of the worst advice was to stuff her into a cage within the run
