I've not always enjoyed everything Pearl Jam has released...but that's the beauty of music. If you play what someone else wants to hear you're simply selling out and selling yourself short. This song is a lyrical masterpiece. Not just the words but how and where he placed them in the song. Great...great music.

What a beautiful song and as a man with a child on the way, building my family, this song really hits home. The fear of something happening and I not being here to protect them. Hearing distant sirens in fear. That's why I appreciate every day and hold my girl oh so close when I come home from work every early morning.

Lot's of improvising when he sings. To be honest, you never know what you'll get. Neither do I think he knows, what comes out is what is there at the moment. Sometimes it's gibberish, sometimes it makes sense.
