I remember hearing this song out of the blue on the radio for the first time, having no clue that it even existed. Obviously the voice was instantly recognizable. The groove, the melody & then the chorus almost blew my entire being straight out of my seat & through the sunroof. Then a minute later I was singing along at the top of my lungs. To a song I’d never fucking heard before!! Now that is the power of music folks. I soon discovered the film & subsequent album. A real gem I must say🤟

This song…. Chris died very near to the time I moved out to the big endless Alaska Wilderness. I learned to recognize local plants & herbs, good for food & for medicinal uses. I’m prone to wandering off the beaten tracks, in all seasons, and, by damn, if something happened, I wanted to survive & make it out alive! This song touches me on so freaking many levels, both historically and personally, plus it’s just impossible not to sing along with!! Absolutely haunts my waking & sleeping moments.
