When I was a beginner, my dad showed me this song and said I would be his favorite guitarist if I could learn this song. Thank you Marty for giving every beginner guitarist a chance. You have shown me and countless other people how truly amazing the guitar can be.
@jobygrantlandsnvrwntrmusic Жыл бұрын
Dude I love your enthusiasm for the guitar, and it's awesome that you understand and appreciate the value there is as a beginner in taking in the knowledge being passed down by the more experienced musicians. My dad gave me my first music lesson when I was 12 and the most important lesson he ever gave me was no matter how good I become as a musician, there will always be something new I can learn. Now I'm 46 and I've had a career as a musician since I was 17, and I recently started teaching piano and guitar, but despite all that experience I never forgot what my dad taught me that day, and that brought me here so that I can learn one of the coolest guitar riffs ever recorded. Stick with it and that guitar will never stop amazing you.

The thing I really love about Marty's tutorials is that he gives you knowledge on how to spice it up and make it your own. The lessons just show you how to play the song, whereas Marty shows you how to play the guitar. Keep strumming on man :)

@mma1st1053 жыл бұрын
@@motochris26ify I can understand that but you should really try to exercise your ears. Sounds dumb and also hard but it's not. It's something you can pick up on pretty quick. As for chords you kinda just have to learn them. Learn the notes on the 2 low strings and that will really help. Nothing is that hard you just have to learn it and practice. Your fingers will start to become more flexible before you know it. Sorry for the rant but I get so much enjoyment from playing I hope you do too. Good luck dude.

As someone who's been struggling for years at learning specific riffs (it seems my aptitude for guitar is limited primarily to punk-style rhythm riffs - mostly simple power cord progressions and the occasional pull-on/pull-off), when I finally decided to try this, the majority of it actually felt surprisingly easy to get. Still got a few little intricacies to work out, but it definitely gave me that "next-level" feeling. Definitely nice when that happens.

It's difficult for a beginner but once you've been playing for decade or so and learn all your chords and learn the chord shapes all up and down the neck in different positions. The song is literally like 3 chords just broken apart and played in pentatonic riffs and double stops. Very simple actually. Keep playing. You'll get there. The thumb on root note will always be tricky for me though and I've been playing for 20 years now. 😆

Man rock music is funny. You had the 50's through mid 70's and everything after was a rehash of a particular element of the original 30 years or so. Punk brought back 50s rock n roll but more extreme, the 80s brought back guitar hero heavy rock and 90s grunge really just brought back late 60s early 70s hard rock. We've had more time of rock ripping off its self than the original bits lasted. Its crazy. Great lesson. I never really realized how hendrix based this song was and i was an album buying kid when this came out! I cant even claim im too young to remember it 😆
