If any body works or worked in peat harvesting can you let me know what it's like. I got offered a job as a peat equipment operator. Is it hard? How much does it usually pay?

They're overcomplicating the answer the answer is simply it is peat moss it's the s*** you buy at the store to help with your garden. This stuff is not being used for a power plant fuel that's harvested in a completely different fashion this is a garden soil amendment product.

It takes nature thousands of years to make a peat bog. Once gone? Its forever.

Do you realize how big of a area on the planet's surface peat bogs cover and what unbelievably tiny fraction of them are actually harvested.
@raymondbryson82625 жыл бұрын
the peat bog is growing all the time thousands of time faster than man can uses it to grow food and capture co2 over and over again. That,s why god made man in his image to look after the planet doing nothing is not looking after the planet and living in cities is the worst thing for the planet.

Horrifying example of unsustainable extraction. Once it's gone it's gone, along with the unique habitats and species that thrived there. Not to mention the carbon locked up in the peat. And all for what? So we can grow pretty flowers?
@deannelson95655 жыл бұрын
Oh I see we have ourselves another environmental stooge that never bothered to actually get a real education on what they're speaking of! Peat moss first off when you take off the top very much can return it just goes back to exactly the way it was before just slightly lower down! The biodiversity of your peatbog will return to normal within about 15 years. As far as sustainability don't be a Daft priq the amount of peat moss taken from peat bogs especially in a place like Canada is infinitesimal compared to the amount produced by Peat Boggs every year! They harvest only a few inches in the area of only a few square miles per year and can havest from the same area for decades yet they have peat bogs covering an area twice the size of Texas!!! If you take all the land that has EVER been and is currently being used and add them all up you are looking at .03% of total peat Boggs in canada.
