Same year I got mine. I still have it and play it as often as I can. Everyone knows how great the red channel is, but the yellow channel is such a great template for rock tones. Wanna play some early Sabbath? Nails it. How about the fatter tones from BOC? Absolutely. Even works for 90s alt rock and punk. The clean is also really tasteful. It’s not Fender clean, but it’s way better than it’s given credit for.

If you ever desire a one off custom lefty axe that is different than anything else offered by the big companies, built by someone who actually has the same dexterity as you, I will gladly oblige! Regardless of that, keep on keeping it Metal Up Your Ass!

Hearing this brought back memories of the days when I was growing up and a few of the guitarists I jammed with had Peavey amps. I always loved the crunch you'd get out of them compared to a Marshall, especially since we were playing stuff like Metallica / Pantera etc it really stood out

One reason this amp sounds so good is the slight drop off of harsh high mids in 2k - 3k range. Makes it sound nice and crisp without the ice pick.

The international voltage thing is something that all amps should have! As a bass player, I'm thankful that my DNA 1350 amp has had this for years. My other bass amps and guitar amps, on the other hand, do not. Now that I'm moving out of the USA, I have to either bring a step down transformer or decide if I want to modify them for 240v. Next thought: 6505 ii MH?

Awesome demo! 😎🤘🏻🎸 I’m a huge fan of peavey amps and this amp sounds killer. I’ve always like their guitar amps for its raw and heavy tones. This amp has such nice tones. The distortion channel sounds killer and clean channel sounds nice and clear. Especially with a chorus effect. It makes it sound beautiful. All in all, an awesome amp for metal.

Are the power connectors inside the amp that are known for burning out beefed up so that doesn't happen anymore? Are there different capacitors used than the old ones or is it all still the same brand? Is the FX loop higher quality? I would love to know more about what the improvements in the circuit are.

The 5150 II was Peavey's best amp IMO, if people were after that hot-rodded Marshall tone. But, to this day, I've not heard any Peavey amp sound like that since. Then again, every demo you hear today is of someone beating on one string (of a 7-string guitar, no less), with a guitar tuned to the key of rotting-flesh (flat), with the gain turned up so high playing a chord is pointless. With that said, if Peavey truly did re-create that 5150 II circuit, then this should be a killer amp.

Sweetwater’s website on the Peavey 6505 II cab shows it has V30’s in both the straight and slanted cab. A nice upgrade from the original 6505 cabs that came before with the Sheffield speakers.
@TelluricHusk2 жыл бұрын
@@josephcastro3058 What I’m asking is, are the V30s the 2022 UPDATED AND IMPROVED version of the speaker, or are they the ones that have existed since like 2006 or whatever? Because super old V30s rip but the quality went downhill in the mid 2000s and hasn’t returned until now. They finally updated and improved the speaker, they sound a lot better now. @TelluricHusk Жыл бұрын
@@Manik530 also, pretty certain all new v30s are made in China because that’s just where Celestion has their manufacturing now. But Celestion upgraded and improved the speaker in 2022 so they are being manufactured at a higher quality than in recent years.

But 1499 dollars for that piece of tin garbage is a laugh. Save up, buy EU or US made stuff used instead.
@ectoshock2 жыл бұрын
The bias is understood, somewhat justified - maybe more on the guitar side though? With electronics though, what hasn’t produced overseas in the past 30+ years? The prices of US and UK made amps are through the roof and won’t drop moving forward. Keeping something like this between the $1300-1500 range at least keeps it accessible to more buyers. Not to mention, even if you can splurge on the more expensive stuff, sometimes it’s just not worth it all said and done. Then good luck flipping it if it can’t be returned. Maybe I’m wrong? I guess we will see once these start hitting the stores. Trying to think positive on this one.
@carlmeiner2 жыл бұрын
@@ectoshock Good points raised here! I think my outburst is more of a general frustration regarding products (both overseas and locally made) having prices going through the roof.
