There is an option to take the C&D banks of presets which are 8 total presets and make them additional guitar presets instead of for a bass or Acoustic. This gives you 16 total presets which is outstanding for different options for the guitar. It explains how to do this in the manual.

The only problem with it is a lot of people report the knobs starting to fail after a couple years... I just happened to me as well and I had to get rid of mine. Hopefully this has been corrected in newer models but I really don't know. In any case, good luck and aside from that issue it's the best amp for the money in my opinion.

I picked up the original Vyper in this wattage range because I liked the clean chorus preset. That amp was very glitchy and would not work at all when bringing it from cold weather to a warm interior until it warmed up itself. It would lose signal randomly at other times also. I liked the options and the normal electric guitar tones but I finally traded it in for this one and it’s is much better! Great tones as long as you don’t try the 12 string which sounds wretched bad! Over all I like this amp better all the time but I would not use it for a gig because it does still glitch occasionally.
@Corrupt-R Жыл бұрын
That's really strange about the glitching out, must be some weird issue with the circuit board inside? I can only guess, but I've never seen that happen before. Hopefully it stops doing that or you can get one that works better!

@Corrupt-R2 жыл бұрын
@@gailrooney2776 Well there are two reasons you'll see a mic in front of an amp. One is to record it, in which case the mic is attached to some recording equipment like a computer. The other reason is to further amplify the amp for large venues, in which case the mic is attached to a soundboard which then sends the signal to massive venue speakers (called the P.A.) so a large crowd can hear it. Hope that helps!

I just took delivery of a Peavey Vypyr VIP and the Sanpera 2 mk2 footswitch/vol/expr pedal controller. Your video has been very helpful in removing some of my frustration. Any chance you can do a similar tutorial for the Sanpera 2 if you happen to have one? It is as unintuitive as the VIP itself unfortunately. I'm sure others would benefit as well, particularly, I'm not having success getting the expression pedal to behave as a wah for the life of me. Fortunately I have a Morley wah to work with in the meantime, but it's one more thing in my effects chain and really, it's in the wrong part of the chain. Lastly, have you considered doing the effects loop mod for the Vypyr, or no anyone that has? I have a Boss RC-3 Loop Station I'd like to use with it, and that will not be very effective without the ability to put it in an effects loop. Same for my MXR 10 band EQ. Thanks again. This vid and a couple of your covers convinced me to subscribe.

For what it's worth here is a link to a discussion about the Wah not working on the Peavey forum and a link to a video showing how to adjust it. Maybe this will help! www.peavey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41479
@Nicky-T7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Tim. I am looking into this amp and this is the second video I have seen that the clean sound seems compressed. Are you using compression, does the amp sound like that, or is this an artifact of the recording process? I am looking at the amp especially because the Master volume seems to allow you to play at a VERY low volume and still get the effects you want (any simpler amps in this class that have that ability?). I don't care about the modeling because I have a Variax and a multi effects/modeling board and some discrete pedals. That said, this amp is extremely confusing. I would be lost trying to set it up w/o the software. Luckily, I am familiar with the Line 6 Workbench and the Digitech modeling software packages, so it would probably be an easy transition. The Peavey software looks easy enough. I have owned numerous Peavey amps over the last 35 years and have always found them to be dependable and great values.
@Corrupt-R7 жыл бұрын
NickyT hey Marc here, so there is a little compression in the video for our voices so the amp is slightly compressed, however I’ll tell you it doesn’t sound that way in person and for clean tones is not a very good amp. It excels amazingly with distorted tones though. It also sounds great at very low volume so I think you would like that. If a nice clean channel is really important to you though you may want to consider another amp, possibly an Orange practice amp? The clean on those impressed me
@Nicky-T7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Marc. Orange is probably way out of my price range! That is an important piece of info, I don't want distortion. But the Peavey amps have always had good distortion, even before trans-tubes. The "saturation" amps had the best tone for a solid state amp in their day. If I wanted distortion, I'd like a Valve King.

@Corrupt-R5 жыл бұрын
I would roll back the post gain to around 4 or 5 and turn up the master, that may help. Also most amps really start to feedback when the volume and the pre gain are both set high. As you increase the master volume, take away some of the pre gain to lessen the feedback. Hope that helps!

If you could get inside it you could possibly use some Deoxit spray and see if that helps, though that could be quite a pain. Thinking of buying one of these apps but I also have a keyboard and nobody mentions how it would be with a keyboard and there again what would be the settings
@Corrupt-R2 жыл бұрын
For a keyboard you typically want something like an FRFR Speaker (Flat Range Flat Response). These are usually monitor type speakers that reproduce the sound without adding any additional characteristics to the EQ curve or tone. Guitar amps almost always add those characteristics to give the guitar tone more personality, but doesn't always translate well to something like a keyboard. With that said, you could absolutely use this amp for a keyboard so long as you set it to a very "clean" setting. The Vypyr happens to have an "acoustic" amp setting as an option which might work pretty well. Just don't expect it to sound quite as good as a true monitor speaker meant for keyboards.

Yeah I can't argue with you there, I'm glad the video was helpful! I think part of what makes it difficult is almost everything on the knobs is abbreviated and it's hard to tell what it's supposed to mean at first. In any case, once you get used to it it's pretty easy, but at first glance it's very confusing!

Is there any way to program this thing to not be super loud when i turn it on? I live in an apartment and want to be descreet
@Corrupt-R5 жыл бұрын
You can turn down the post gain for the patches you use and save it, but the easiest way would be to have the master volume set at zero before you power it on and then turn it up slowly from there :)

Great video. Unfortunately, this is too much to figure out for this beginner. lol. I just want a decent amp with built in effects to avoid having cables and several boxed all over the place. The price is very enticing though.
@Corrupt-R8 жыл бұрын
Once you get used to it it's pretty easy to use, and most of the features you can just leave alone and not mess with and still have plenty of tone options. It's true though, it's not the most user friendly amp around. If you want something a little more straight forward, take a look at "Orange" amps, they sound great and their control layouts are always simple and very easy to use.

He says at the beginning that there is not much time to go through everything, theres to much, I was hoping to hear what the amp sounds like. If he would make another video with nothing but tunage of each effect, Just to sample each sound instead of talking .. tnx
@Corrupt-R8 жыл бұрын
Hi torin g, thanks for watching! So this video is just a quick tutorial of how to use the amp. For an actual review of the amp's tone check my review video under my gear reviews playlist. I still don't go through every effect, but it will give you a much better idea of what the amp sounds like
@davekirst75116 жыл бұрын
Is there anyway to play this amp without the effects on and just a clean tone?
@Corrupt-R6 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the very late response! I think the closest you would get would be the classic amp setting with gain turned down. Should give a pretty flat clear tone. I dont think there is a setting that will just give you a flat signal though

The main question I have, and I'm hoping someone can answer this for me... is there any way to stack the effects on this amp and set up a simulated pedal chain?
@Corrupt-R5 жыл бұрын
Young Frankenstein to the best of my knowledge the answer is no, however you can add one effect from each knob so potentially you could have 3 or 4 going at once including reverb and delay. For stomp boxes though it’s going to be limited to one from each knob or category as far as I know
@stankfanger13665 жыл бұрын
@@Corrupt-R That is _exactly_ what I needed to know. I bought a Fender Champion 100 to dink around with in my music room, but you can literally only put the knob on one effect and you have to turn that one off to spin it to another one. Glad it was cheap. Looks good on a shelf and sounds good clean, so I'll leave it at that. I'm still torn between this one and the Blackstar ID 30, though. For a few dollars more I already know the Blackstar software pretty well and running everything from a tablet plugged in is pretty easy. On the other hand, the $200 I save is a whole box of Paradigms with change left over. First world problems, yay!

@Corrupt-R5 жыл бұрын
Yeah i can’t think of a practice size amp with full pedal chain capability, you’d probably have to turn to a multi effects floor pedal like a line 6 helix or something similar. I could be wrong though, lots of amps out there! Thanks for the sub!

I'm thinking of getting a peavey VIP 1, should I get the VIP 1 or wait and get a 2?
@Corrupt-R8 жыл бұрын
The VIP 2 has way more effects options, is more powerful, and has a 12 inch speaker instead of 8 inch. Even if you don't care about the effects, I think the bigger speaker alone is worth the upgrade. If you can afford the VIP 2 I'd go that route, however if you're on a budget the VIP 1 is a good amp. Overall though, I'd go for the 2 if possible
@dontliethetruth8 жыл бұрын
get the VIP 2, definitely. the 8" speaker of the VIP 1 has a well-known flub, if i may call it that.. it's a noticeable digital frog-iness to the sound in the low-mids/bass frequencies

(Help) I recently just got this amp, 2 days ago at a pawn shop for really cheap, didn’t think it would work but it does! I watched this video to help me get familiar but I was having some issues with the amp that I didn’t see in this video. When I try to change the pre gain and the post gain I can’t change the knobs to increase or decrease it. Any help with that? Thank you!

Can anyone tell me..would this be a good system for electronic drums?
@Corrupt-R6 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply somehow I missed your comment! I would get a monitor speaker for drums, it will have a flat response that gives a much more accurate representation of the drum sound than a guitar amp would. The guitar amp, even on the cleanest setting possible, would color the sound I think.

@@MeyersTJ1 But if you continue to hold the buttons in does it ever stop? From what I read you have to keep holding the buttons in until it stops. It didn't say how long it takes but I wouldn't think more than 10 seconds. If that doesn't work then I think there's a real issue with it unfortunately
@MeyersTJ12 жыл бұрын
@@Corrupt-R i tried holding it down for about 2 minutes. It never stops. Im thinking that the issues is with the cable input connection in the amp because I've tried about 10 different cables and its all the same. The static buzzing feedback just doesn't stop.
@Corrupt-R2 жыл бұрын
@@MeyersTJ1 You know now that you mention it, don't all the lights start flashing when there is no cable plugged in? I think you're right the input jack could be shot which would make it think there's no cable in it even when there is. I don't know how hard these things are to work on, but a new input jack is a relatively easy fix most of the time. Might be worth a shot

What are the best settings to play metal like Rammstein?
@Corrupt-R2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm well it won't sound exactly like them but I'd start with the 6505 setting. I believe a Mesa Recto would be a little more like what they would sound like, which this amp doesn't emulate. However a 6505 with treble around 5 or 6, mids around 4, and bass around 6 should be a good place to start. At that point I'd put on a Rammstein song and adjust by ear until you get as close as you can. Let me know how it turns out!

Plz do a video on how 5o do a factory reset on a vip 1 vypyr
@Corrupt-RАй бұрын
To perform a factory reset on your Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 amplifier, follow these steps: 1. Power Off: Ensure the amplifier is turned off. 2. Locate Buttons A and B: Identify the ‘A’ and ‘B’ preset buttons on the front panel. 3. Initiate Reset: • Press and hold both the ‘A’ and ‘B’ buttons simultaneously. • While holding these buttons, turn on the amplifier’s power. • Continue holding the buttons until the amp fully boots up. This process will restore the amplifier to its original factory settings, erasing all user-defined presets. For more detailed information, refer to the Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 Operating Manual
